I don't know how to judge pop music. I don't even know how to define pop music... I'd say lyrics are important, but then what about songs in a language you don't understand?
As for repeating the same things over and over, it's pretty much the key to people's minds. Kind of crass, but effective...
No, I know what you mean...it's just whatever moves you...Beyonce and Britney and Shakira and Katy Perry and Lady Gaga all move my friend so I listen to them with him and I can get down with it at that moment, it's not like I'm going to stop being his friend even though I have to listen to it and he doesn't really return the favor about my music but...anyway, yeah.

On a random note: I just watched the Bonnaroo DVD, what a fucking waste of money. I couldn't even make it through the whole Ben Harper song, and I used to love Ben Harper!! The Decemberists were the best on there, and you know something's wrong when that's the case...although maybe I shouldn't hate bc they did play The Wanting Comes in Waves. And Shara Worden's hottt. I just think they could use a little more costuming! But yeah I didn't even make it through the whole DVD.

Manu Chao gets on my nerves. I remember in elementary school when everyone was singing that "me gustas tú" song. God, the lyrics to that song are really annoying.

I know what you mean and I feel your pain... But then you can't blame him for being everywhere. He's been out of the public eye for a while, but when he comes back, it's gonna start all over again - broken English, broken Spanish. :-)

And aren't the only Scandies PBJ and Love is All? That's what I remember... And about Amsterdam, the thing that annoys me about it is howhe says days by the big canal, singular, when it should be plural. I don't know why I even care, but it really riles me. :-/

But that song is so happy!
I live in a place where most people don't know it, though. I think it would get annoying if i started hearing it everywhere..

The Knife is also scandies. "Heartbeats" is a great song though.
