I know the Silver Chain lyrics are either "untranslated" or "Secret".

But does anyone here know what the actual lyrics are?

Do the Apples even know what the lyrics are?

I can make out some words. I've listened to it so many times just to figure out what the lyrics are. ...Well...Not just to figure out what the lyrics are. It IS my favorite AIS song (That I know).

Anyway, does anybody know the lyrics?

Thanks

I would also love to know the lyrics to Silver Chain. I've listened over and over, and the vocals are just buried too low in the mix for you to understand what she's singing. It's my favorite AIS song too, though. Weird. Somebody please help!

Alright, I've taken two passes at it, trying to write what I hear as I listen to the song. This is what I've come up with, it's obviously not all correct, but it's a starting point:

VERSE ONE:
Girls in silver linings
Don't catch the rain
Wish that we were finding
My silver chain

Shame it's brought you held
We know it's you
That shiny silver bell
That pulled you through

CHORUS:
He is going
She is going
Words are
Too knowing

VERSE TWO:
Worms have chains around you
They can't be felt
Too late, you can't undo
The hand you dealt

(CHORUS)

VERSE THREE:
This thing you gave to me
Can only break
So hold it carefully
_???_ for my sake

(CHORUS)

Maybe:
Chained, it's got you bound,
we know it's you
That shining silver bell
That pulled you through

and the chorus might be:
She is growing

And:
Ropes and chains around you
They can't be felt

And the last bit I've never been able to figure out..:
So hold it carefully
then [something that sounds phonetically like "swollen"] I say

"Chained" might work. But I can't hear "bound", though... it still sounds like "held" to me. I know I'm hearing an "L" and then either a "D" or a "T".

"Growing" is actually probably right... I thought I heard it myself a few times when I first listened to it. I'm listening to it again now and "growing" definitely seems to be it.

"Ropes and chains" didn't fit when I listened to it over again a few times, but now I can hear it. Certainly makes more sense than worms.

As for the last stanza, I'm 90% confident that what I have there is right. I just can't figure out that one word... the first thing that comes to mind is "right for my sake" but I know that's not it. It's something "for my sake", though.

So, this is what I have now (unsure parts in red):

VERSE ONE:
Girls in silver linings
Don't catch the rain
Wish that we were finding
My silver chain

Chained, it's got you held
We know it's you
That shiny silver bell
That pulled you through

CHORUS:
He is going
She is growing
Words are
Too knowing

VERSE TWO:
Ropes and chains around you
They can't be felt
Too late, you can't undo
The hand you dealt

(CHORUS)

VERSE THREE:
This thing you gave to me
Can only break
So hold it carefully
_???_ for my sake

(CHORUS)

Also, in:

This thing you gave to me
Can only break

"Can" might be "could". I keep hearing them both.
