I think Pitchfork nailed it with their review on the LBs album.

Much like the Essex Green, I can't help but be that "I like their earlier stuff better" type of fan. It's all compitent and pleasant, and entirely forgettable.

I hope it grows on me, because I'm not too keen at this point.

Anyone else?

i don't remember pitchfork's review, but tinymixtapes review was spot fucking on if i can recall.

and i should say that after one spin, i would agree with harnk, but i don't want to give the impression that i'm down on the album. i was completely expecting what i got with can't wait another day. i thought their last album was boring at first, but it really grew on me. i'm hoping this one will do the same, but even if it doesn't it's perfectly acceptable as is.

You sound as if you're speaking in the presence of the band members.

i'm enjoying it to be honest. i haven't listened to all of it yet or really taken it in

Their last one just didn't grab me... no real incentive to buy the next one. It's what did for my Dressy Bessy purchasing.

no, i'm speaking as a person who has been bored to tears by every single ladybug transistor album upon first listen. i'm just using more caution before saying the same thing with this one. that and i really wasn't expecting much, and wasn't surprised when the album didn't produce much (relatively speaking).

i'm really digging it. they've never missed in my mind. i consider them to be the most consistent and reliable pop group in my collection. when i'm fed up with everything else, i put on Ladybug, and they just do their thing. 'tis great!

'tis quite good. much like their last one in that it's a grower and the hooks don't reveal themselves right off. very consistent overall but they still can't match the heights of albermarle and argyle.

that's two posts in a row using "tis".....not that type of word to be used back to back. Please start over.

it's cliche, but I put it on Sunday in its entirety, pouring rain here, lazy day, and it fit the mood nicely. I have a bad habit of skipping through albums and not taking the time to appreciate them, and like it was said before, this one's a grower.

Well, I'm not to sure what to say about the new album considering I haven’t heard it yet. It would be really hard for them to top albermarle sound, in my eyes (and ears.) I will express how excited I am that they've extended their tour to include Chicago:

It has been over 5 years since I've seen them last, and this time they will be playing with Sparklehorse!!!! And in fact, April of 2002 was the first E6 show I ever attended......Ladybug/Essex Green. Ultimately, when given the opportunity to buy anything straight from the artist, I certainly do so. Even if that means holding out on hearing a brand new album. Most of the time it's better that way for me.

I will definitely return to this thread in August, to report my feelings of the album. I will also give some show highlights. ;)

after about 100 listens:

this is the best Ladybug Transistor album. it's subtle, mature, sophisticated, classic, timeless, catchy, deliberate, poetic, tight, rockin', smart, passionate, perfectly produced, rhapsodic, wistfully unfashionable, and generally gorgeous.

to me it's the worst LT album... by fast the baroque argyle heir and the sweet albemarle sound are better than this.

meh. e6ers are overstimulated. subtlety goes unrewarded around these parts.

I'm sorry to dig up this thread, but I just got into the transistor and I need to express my love for these guys (and girl) and this album. This band really should be almost as appreciated as of montreal is around these parts. Even if this album isn't drastically different from the earlier ones almost every song is worth dozens of listens and listening to the transistor give me a very pleasant feeling and makes me feel as though this entire world is nothing but a still life painting.
