This compilation is great. I'm confused how so many call it krap. One stinker on the CD (Asian Beefcake Horizon) does not make a bad album

you are most definately not on yr own, harnk. i love that comp! enough to buy it twice, actually- as a tour cd-r and as the commercially released version. "girl from nyc" is wonderful. as are "black pygmi", "cast in the haze", "ill treated hiccup", etc, etc. i can't see why any of montreal fan would think this comp an unworthy addition to their music collection. i listen to it all the time. not to mention the artwork!

I think with a few additions and removals it could be one of their better releases. The Zombies cover is just fantatsic. My, What A Strange Day WIth Swede is the shhhheeeeee-ot! Cast in a Daze, Ill Treated Hiccup...Oh momma. I rate it above Horse and Elephant Eatery.

I still don't have Petite Trajedy...I hope it learns closer to Gay Parade than Cherry Peel.

Cherry Peel, as endearing as it is just does not fill that little niche in my heart that their more wacky efforts do.

If I listened to people and bought Cherry Peel before anything else I would have stopped right there and never made another purchase. It's a nice album and all but it's not what makes them great. Kevin Barnes, to me, is a flippin genius in absurdity, and to me that's why they are so fucking cool. The dood just don't give a shit about what's cool, and that in itself allows him to write zingers like

i just got "big oil" over christmas and i must say that it is one of my favorite of montreal albums (number 5 overall). every song is fantastic, but i must say that my absolute favorite is "charlie and freddy"
