pogo? perhaps not pogo. i am not very talented at pogoing. but nonetheless, i will stand by my statement.
I agree that as much as i love all of them there are certainly songs like "Montreal" that I could about cry to and dance little with.
But what about "Nickee Coco" that should get you singing at the top of your lungs.

i've been listening to an of montreal mix tape that i made and i have come up with even more songs that make me want to scream with joy:
"penelope" (quite possibly one of the greatest songs EVER. the time signature changes are the best.)
"the problem with april"
"fun loving nun"
"advice from a divorced gentleman to his bachelor friend considering marriage"
"natalie and effie in the park"
the re-recorded "dont ask me to explain"
and my absolute favorite:
"in the army kid"

yes, okay, there are songs that would be tough to dance to, but then again they move you on the inside as much as the others make you move around on the outside.
penelope is just so..... that's one amazing song.

In the Army Kid is such a fabulous song! You know, I'm a little slow sometimes, but I'm really starting to fall in love with some of the songs on Horse and Elephant Eatery.. A song that makes me want to jump up and down on that album is Nicki Lighthouse...
Good stuff!

Half-Handed!
"In the army kid" appears as second track on Andy's amazing hard-to-find first album "Timesquare". (My brother has it, lucky him!) This version is more quiet but it still rocks...

MOHAHAHAHA... Sorry Bro (haennric)!! It's my cd!!!! "Timesquare" is an excellent album...
One of the OM song that really makes me happy is "Rose Robert"... hoho... it's such a nice song...It's the best song to listen to when you've come home after a long rainy day...I've listened to it constantly for about 15 minutes now (Guess I am driving my neigbours insane)

the one song that does it for me every time is Tim wish you were born a girl, after that comes a celebration of h hare and indeed jennifer louise and jacques lamure and of course penelope and hello from inside a shell. these are songs I always put on mixtapes and always to no effect sadly enough...
i just noticed something, the most depressing of montreal songs are almost always on track #9. i'm not sure what the significance of the number is.. but look!
- Dustin Hoffman’s Wife Calls In Detective...
- Montreal
- Panda Bear (plus all the songs after it....)
- The Autobiographical Grandpa
- Predictably Sulking Sara
all track 9! weird!

All the songs after Panda Bear are amazing they are probably my favorite grouping of Of Montreal songs. I don't really consider them depressing for some reason, maybe because by the end he realizes that living is better than dying and gets over his heartbreak.

The first song on Pollinaire Rave is a good one to listen to while cracking walnuts with a pogo ball. Mine has no track listing, but I believe it's called "Story of the Bull."
While we're on the subject, does anyone have scans of Pollinaire Rave artwork to share? My copy has an awesome David Barnes drawing on the CD itself, but no other artwork.

As for the track 9 hypothesis, Mimi Merlot is also track 9.

well certainly on the third disc, but i don't know about the whole set. disc one is really solid, and lately i've been listening and appreciating disc two a lot more as well.
oh who am i kidding? the whole thing is insanely good. unnecesarily so. if it were only 75% as good as it is, it would still blow any other comp out of the water. though why they'd be in water, i have no idea. and i have yet to get the new Orange Twin comp, which may very well blow just as much water as KC50.
