actually i don't even know about the wu tang part, but he rules. cuban linx is the only thing i've been listening to for the past two weeks.

You got guns? / We got guns, too / what up son dukes / Wanna battle for cash and see who Sun Tzu?

He's really really short in real life.
Ghostface is my #1 Wu Banga.
Cuban Linx is an amazing album!
And that gun by his elbow is very very small!
He has a 718 hat!
That's the name of the Theodore Unit album!

718 is also the area code in brooklyn

i think we can all agree that U-God sucks. I HATE THAT BASTARD, HIS VERSE ON KNUCKLEHEADZ RUINS THAT SONG. THE PART WHERE HE TRIES TO SOUND LIKE ODB IS ESPECIALLY ATROCIOUS!

no, it's not. they kind of look alike, but biz is much bigger and he makes a retarded face in every press shot.

ghostface is makin the best records. that track shakey dog on fishscale has been playin in my head for months.

making moves back and forth uptown
60 dollars plus toll is the cab fee
wintertime bubble goose, goose, clouds of smoke
music blastin' and the Arab V blunted
whip smelling like fish from one-two-fifth
throwin' ketchup on my fries, hittin baseball spliffs
back seat with my leg all stiff
push the fuckin' seat up, tartar sauce on my S Dot kicks
rocks is lit while I'm poppin' the clips

Whenever I see pictures of marijuana or large quantities of marijuana, I can't help but think "that kind of looks like big cat turds".

I don't really know anything about rap music but any dude who likes "Push it to the limit" is cool by me.

781 is my area code represennnnntttt
Also 802, SOUTHERN VT!!

right on

hey i just saw slavoj zizek speak and i think he smokes crack. like he seriously showed all the signs of addiction - physical tics, sweating, sniffling, hyperactivity, etc.

ghostface. #1. what about cappadonna? on IRONMAN, he tears shit up!

ж
11-18-2006, 03:15 PM
cappadonna's okay, but definitely not the best in the wu tang stable. still, "your sexy and persuasive ta-tas" and "i love you like i love my dick size" are great lines.

i don't understand the unanimous ghostface love. maybe it's because he's the only relevant wu mc right now. everyone who hasn't heard raekwon should download "spot rusherz" to hear him kill it. his verses on 36 chambers are always some of the best. ghost is nice, but i could never pick my favorite wu tang rapper definitively. you'd be hard pressed to find a better duo than rae & ghost tho. they complement each other so well.

does anyone have an mp3 of wu tang's st ides commercial? i need that.

gokk, that lecture sounds awesome. i've only read an interview with him but he seemed interesting.

BOBBY STEELS

he has a really weird accent. on some songs he even sounds british, esp. on "wu tang clan ain't nuthin to f' wit"

it sounds like he has marbles in his mouth. and the st. ides, i know! i used to have that, dont know what happened to it. on soulseek i found a 4 cd set with a bunch of rare stuff. freestyles, etc. look for that.

EDIT.

heres the tracklisting.

sometimes bobby sounds like he's doing a bad bill clinton impression.

i might have been on a plane with him when i was eight or nine. my dad used his miles to upgrade us to first class and a bunch of guys wearing wu-wear apparel were sitting across the aisle from me. one big guy with dreads was writing a story about bobby digital on his laptop. i knew who bobby digital and wu-tang were at the time, but not what any of them looked like, so i'm not sure if it was the RZA, wu tang affiliates, or just fanboys.

i love it that a nine year old knows and listens to the wu tang clan, and makes a note of somebody writing a story of bobby digital. good stuff. when i was that age i was heavily into x clan, which i think is pretty funny. i'm not sure i quite understood there message at that age, but the songs were there. to the east, my brother to the east. with the key. sissy.

i think it would be even better if it had been a group of fanboys on their way to a wu-tang fan convention or something.

here's an mp3 of the commercial if anyone's interested: http://www.wutang-corp.com/shared/mp3/wu-tang_clan-st_ides_commercial-wutangcorp.mp3

i love how ghost plugs wallabees even in a commerical for another product

i think ghostface is gay.

i'm dead serious here. like he just seems like he's either overcompensating or being suspiciously effeminite all the time.

ж
11-28-2006, 07:24 AM
i think he's just completely out of his mind, but i'd be interested in hearing the reasons behind your logic, buttsex.

well, here's an interesting article (for starters):
http://www.nowtoronto.com/issues/2003-06-26/music_feature.php

i just think his lyrics are tellingly awkward when they deal with women - which isn't very often. he has to put up a misogynistic thug front but he's not great at it because it's so unnatural for him - women don't factor in for him either way. and the parts of gangsta life he embraces (like selling his own line of purple robes) are the ones that dovetail a little too nicely with fag culture.

thats all.

emanresu
11-28-2006, 01:13 PM
what are some examples of lyrics that are awkward dealing with women? relative to most mainstream rappers he seems to have a lot of respect for them. I don't have Ironman, but I don't really get where you're coming from.

ж
11-28-2006, 02:47 PM
yeah, emanresu is right. ghostface was one of the first "sensitive thugs," and was definitely a big influence on the refined tone of jay-z's blueprint.

i've seen that article before and i was expecting to be a lot more entertained than i was. i expected some flagrantly homoerotic verses (a la nas' analingus obsession), and i'm sure they wouldn't have been that hard to find. dipset invented a catchphrase to deal with the prevalence of such lines. rappers talk about their dicks all the time, it's not like ghost is the first to do so.

purple robes...that's his thing, just like enormous jewelry and wallabees. he could just as easily be an old jewish woman. the shoe fetish is the only thing that could really be construed as "gay." i think this is just wishful thinking on your part, buttsex.

i think my friend put it best when he said something to the effect of "most rappers only talk about guns, jewelry, booty. ghostface made a coke album, but he keeps talking about sanford & son, spongebob, honeymooners marathons." the guy doesn't give a fuck, he could probably rock a bedazzled pink lycra suit and get away with it.

still, it's worth noting that rolling stone described wu tang as "homoerotic" in their review of 36 chambers, citing their fixation on dicks and assholes in the "torture" skit and the fact that they almost never mention the existence of women.

why is it that caribbeans are always resentful of their own people
