So I've been listening to some tracks, and I really like lyrics, I think song writing is the most beautiful form of poetry of our age. but sometimes, lyrics seem to get in the way of what the music is saying.

Does anyone know any full toned, cathartic, instrumental groups? I'm really aiming for acoustic stuff, but post whatever your hearts desire.

Here is a band I stumbled on when exploring my local venue’s schedules for shows:

Psychic Ills (http://www.myspace.com/psychicills)

They seem to be a mix between a really dark Shoeglaze and a jam band.......I know not the most flattering description, however, I don’t find their music to be cheesy at all. I can’t really offer any more insight due to the fact that they are so new to me. I plan on attending their Dec. show in Chicago and will more than likely pick up some of their recordings then. If you like what you hear here, then I’ll keep you posted. Here is a favorite of mine that is not offered directly at myspace:

4am (http://www.thesocialregistry.com/_mp3/mp3/psychicills/pi_4am.mp3)

Ironically they are playing a show with a Chicago native band that I have been trying to see live for about a year and a half:

Grimble Grumble (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=18803997)

I think the bands have complementary sounds and am anticipating a good show.

Good luck on the rest of your search,

DRG

Edit:

Oh an acoustic music (which I don't usually pursue) **Michael** (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=85033020&MyToken=57830e76-1746-463f-a3e6-b780c4710449). He is a guy I meet at a show in Chicago and you might like it.....I do.

sigur ros.

most of their songs have vocals, but many of them have no lyrics; the vocalizing is purely musical. and the ones that DO have lyrics are in icelandic so it amounts to about the same thing (unless you understand icelandic).

haha I was going to quietly sneak in Explosions in the Sky but I wasn't sure whether or not I'd get beat up

If you're into static ambient stuff, Stars of the Lid.

this is probably not what you're looking for at all

no, but you can't go wrong with the transfiguration of blind joe death. fahey would be a fascinating figure even if he'd never written a song.

i really liked the psychic ills album when i first heard it, but i kind of lost interest after a few listens. the singer has a really thin voice, which usually suits this kind of music, but doesn't in this case. i thought he was a girl for a while. oh well.
