There is a halloween show in Salix, Pennsylvania (which is 20 minutes away from Johnstown...which is maybe an hour and a half away from Pittsburgh). Anyway, some friends of mine from a few bands and I are going to cover In The Aeroplane Over the Sea in its entirety at this show.
It's actually not on Halloween, but on October 29th, next Sunday.
This is the address of the show:
Salix Log Cabin
1064 forest hills dr.

The show starts at 4:00 PM, though I know we won't be playing that early.

Anyway, anyone in the area should come.

There is a possibility that we are going to do it again in Pittsburgh on the 31st, but I'm not positive.

It just so happens I will be in the area on that day - I'm planning to show up. Does the event have a name or a link associated with it -- might help me stay informed in case it's canceled or there's a change in time or venue etc...

i'll be out of town the 29th and won't be able to come to the salix show, but if there's any chance of you playing in pittsburgh on halloween, please do!!! let me know where and when!

You can check www.vocalyouth.net for more information. It's a forum for local shows around central PA. Right now, it's down, or I would send you an actual link to the thread about this show. I'll keep checking and post a link to said thread when the board is back up.

I second the motion for you to play ITAOTS in Pittsburgh on halloween - easier for me than making it to the Salix show. Do it! Do it!

The 'shows' board on the Music part of this site still seems down, or at least is down now.... just wanted to check if you're still planning to cover the ITAOTS album this Sunday. I'm heading out to your vicinity for another reason right now (Fri.) and could make your show on Sun. if it's still happening. Thanks.

The show just got cancelled, I'm sorry to say.

There is a chance that it's happening in Pittsburgh on Tuesday, even though I have to work and everyone hates me now.
I'll find out more tomorrow.
I just learned about the cancellation today, by the way.

Well, my car had problems as I was leaving Pittsburgh Friday so I never made it to the hinterlands this weekend anyway. If you do it here in the city on Tuesday, make sure you post when and where it will happen....

tonight - for one night - these kids totally channeled NMH. The cover show was awesome. Full horn section, accordian, saw, etc. plus excellent singers who nailed every single song. And $1.25 Rolling Rock bottles. They did the entire ITAOTS album. Only thing missing was a zanzithophone but a muted trumpet did a very nice job mimicking it. Way to go!!!!! It was wonderful.

the band was these guys from Johnstown:

the place was Gooski's in Pittsburgh.
Had to be there.

Hey, radiowires, did I talk to you at the bar?
I was the shirtless trumpet player who tried to get a beer during "Oh Comely," and failed to get the bartender's attention.
Anyway, I'm really glad you made it to the show.

We might do it again sometime soon, because we wanted to do it in Johnstown so all the kids in that scene could see it.

Yes, that was me! You are one talented trumpet player, dude. Great tone. I loved how you positioned yourself behind the audience and doubled the singer's voice on your trumpet during the final "dee-de-dee" melodic part at the end of "Oh Comely". (I think it was at that part -- unlike you, I was able to get the bartender's attention a little too much which may have affected my memory). Anyway: Awe-some. And nice to meet you!

Did you guys really do that with only one rehearsal? That's what I overheard in the hubbub.

As a musician, doing this is one of my most frequent day dreams. Good job, man.

I'm new here by the way, decided to come around and see what's up. Hi guys.
