View Full Version : Doing some MP3 library management...

I have a few questions about properly tagging my OTC files.

1) The John Peel CD, is it titled "Those Sessions", "John Peel Session", or "The Peel Sessions"?

2) The Black Swan Network split, is it "The Olivia Tremor Control Vs. Black Swan Network" or "The Tour EP"?

3) The Hideaway single is titled "Hideaway", but in the booklet for Black Foliage it's titled "Hideway". Was this a typo in the album notes for Black Foliage or did they change the spelling on purpose?

4) Are the songs on Explanation II titled "Cycle 1", "Cycle 2", etc... or are they all just untitled tracks?

Also if anyone has good-quality album art for OTC albums (especially the rare stuff) I would highly appreciate them.

I know I'm just being anal about my MP3 tagging, but I just want to see if we can get a general consensus.

I've been confused about the Hideaway tag as well, whenever I rip it onto a computer it goes as Hideway, but I've always manually added an a...

I think the songs on Ex. II are titled Cycle 1, 2, etc., but i never got an actual copy of the cd, so I dunno. I don't really know about the others.

First question: When I ripped an authorized CD to my Itunes library it copied as John Peel Session

I am wondering about the second question myself.......I see both titles use frequently.

Ok so here's what is written on the cds you're asking about:

1) No name on the cd but in the insert it's called "John Peel Session".

2) "The Tour EP" is never mentioned on the cd. All I see is "TheOliviaTremorControlTheBlackSwanNetwork" written all around the cover artwork.

3) No idea why they "changed" it. I confirm, it's called Hideaway on the single.

4) The tracks are not named. All I see is in the inside of the back cover: "All 9 cycles include environmental sounds..."

I think when OTC was selling the Peel Sessions CD on their website (long ago), it was listed as "Those Sessions." I could be wrong, but I think that's where that title originates. But CrazyHorse is right.

I think I figured out the second question........."The Olivia Tremor Control Vs. Black Swan Network" is the artist name and "The Tour EP" is the title of the work.

1) I have it titled as Those Sessions. I think if there even is any official name, it's unclear.

2) Artist: "The Olivia Tremor Control Vs. Black Swan Network"
Album name: "The Tour EP" (i think)

3) On the single's case it says "Hideaway." I don't know for sure, but i think it's probably meant to be that way on Black Foliage as well.

4) I have them as "Cycle 1", "Cycle 2", etc...

Yeah this probably seems like the most reasonable way to go about things.

Also, someone needs to add The Tour EP and Those Sessions articles to Wikipedia:

I noticed that at wikipedia, Dusk is rated a 9.4, while Black Foliage is only a 9.1... I thought Black Foliage would have been higher...

Hmm discogs has the split labeled as:

Artist: TheOlivia Tremor Control & Black Swan Network
Title: The Olivia Tremor Control Vs Black Swan Network

Does anyone know where the term "The Tour EP" originated from?
