...though, i must say that "Gronlandic Edit" has some damn good lyrics...
(anihilists with good imaginations)
I am satisfied
hiding in our friend's apartment
only leaving once a day
to buy some groceries
daylight I'm so absent-minded
nighttime meeting new anxieties
so am I erasing myself?
hope I'm not erasing myself
I guess it would be nice
to give my heart to a god
but which one, which one do I choose?
ah, the church is filled with losers
psycho or confused
I just want to hold the divine
in my hand and forget
all of the beauty's wasted
let's go, let's go, let's go
do something pleasant
(say it)
we fell back to earth like gravity's bitches
(physics make us all its bitches)
I guess it would be nice to help in your escape
from patterns your parents designed
all the party people dancing for the indie star
but he's the worst faker by far
in the set
oh, forget
all of the beauty's wasted
I guess it would be nice
(show me that things can be nice)
I guess it would be nice
(you're trapped)
show me that things can be nice
you've got my back in the city
you've got my back because I don't want to panic
you've got my back in the city
you've got my back because I don't want to panic

Bunny Ain't No Kind of Rider.
No one wants to dance. They're outside. Smoking cigarettes. :(
Faberge Falls for Shuggie and Heimdalsgate Like a Promethean Curse are close behind.

its overt cheesiness disrupts the records cool vibe

i think that it has some of the same elements that are used in the rest of the record. i think hissing fauna is great because its got the two extremes going. "The Past is a Grotesque Animal" is one side of the extreme and "labyrinthian pomp" is the other half. and all the rest of the songs incorporate themes that are going on in those two songs. most of the songs have that 70s funk going on. and most of the songs have that melancholy about them. i think that if labyrinthian werent there the record really wouldnt be complete. i think i'd be reaching to find that ONE ultra funk song that they missed.

5. Labyrinthian
6. Heimdalesgate
7. Cato as a Pun
8. Sink the Seine
9. She's a Rejector

Shuggie. The Past is a Grotesque Animal is a very close second.
