View Full Version : NUKE TESTS

So, North Korea tested a nuke, last night.
As everyone knows, these guys might be willing to use it.
I don't think this is going to end in a pretty picture.
If they use it, it will either be on South Korea, Japan, or us.
My guess is we will most likely nuke them back.

Personally, I live in New York, so I feel really shakey, being in a prime target.
Aside from this, I think that any nukes are bad nukes. The ones they (and we) are developing are way more powerful than the ones dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in WWII.
I guess what I'm getting at is that I think this is ultra-serious shitt for everyone to take notice of.
The hippie in me is crying right now and I'm going to sew my oversized peace sign patch onto the back of my jean jacket today.
I hope you all do the same.
Peace.

No, I won't being sewing an oversized peace sign on my jacket today. For two reasons. One, as much as I like to pretend I live in Korea, I don't, therefor the patch would serve no purpose, as Pyongyang stopped grocery shopping in my neighborhood when I tipped him off that Korea has King Kullen and Pathmark, only they're called Xing Wa Pigong and Fwa Kong Miso, respectively. Two, I love nuclear rockets. They make my dikk bubble and yelp.

north Korea is pretty much on the other side of the globe. There launching capabilities are not very high. The only appropiate targets would be some where in asia, like japan, south korea, maybe even china, or the west coast. Parts of alaska, washington, maybe even California. To get a nuke to new york would be hard. very hard. Also, the nuke they tested was only the equivilant of 550 tons of TNT. That is still smaller then the ones we dropped in WWII.

Would they use it? ITs seems like it would accomplish nothing but the complete destruction of North Korea. Its more of we that have nuclear weapons fear other countries having nuclear weapons, espically countries that we dont have strong relationships with. They could use it, the end of tatical advantage if we were ever to invade their country. They could resort to nuking something. Nobody wants to be nuked. So, lets stop them from having nukes. Its like a stale mate has just been reached in a chess game. We invade them, they nuke. They nuke someone else, we nuke them.

Jefferoo, i think your fears are silly, but real. Like my own. Time for me to find a bride and get married before i lose my chance.

No one is stopping us from having nukes.
If we are the only ones with nukes, who is to say we will never use them in malice. I think to presume otherwise is wishfull thinking.
I don't think it is that easy to stop them from having nukes without nuking them. to me that is irony.
Half-Handed is right that other nations do have a right to defend themselves in the face of defiant world leaders, including our own.
Granted Kim Jong Il is a wack job, but I think our president is no better, honestly.
I also think just writing this off as being "pretty much on the other side of the globe" is a bit ridiculous. the news has covered their nuclear capabilities for a while, but who knows if they've been making long distance rockets as well... or puchasing them.
In either case I don't think it's silly to send out good energy.
I don't want anyone to get nuked. The world is fvcked up enough.
I'm just putting vibes out and hoping someone else picks them up an redistributes them.
It doesn't take a whole lot of effort.

I remember in New York on 9/11/01 I was on Broadway by Washington Square looking downtown (about 25 blocks or so) at the cloud of debris and I knew that we would invade a country, despite the fact that this was an act of terrorism. That for me was a more present fear than getting hit with 2 more planes... which was very present. Now I look back and say to myself "I knew it would happen for the wrong reasons, and it did."

Call me silly.
I feel a bit the same today as I did five years ago.
on that note I will change my user signiture, of 3 years...

maybe a grassroots campaign for world peace can use an Of Montreal tune to dissuade the shakey powers of axis evil from further pre-destruction. 'hitler and grandchildren' as reverse psychological means to salvation.. or perhaps a Black Crowes song. 'Remedy' rocks pretty hard too. it gets the job done.

I'm not in any sort of target area, so I'm not particularly frightened.

But the prospect of yet another war is certainly heavy news.

we dont have to be targeted to be concerned - Jefferoo, you go girl - sew on that peace sign! When the bombs do come, whether its in our neighborhood or not will not matter. Peace is more then an uninterrupted trip to the gorcery store. its a way of life, even to the death.

For some reason I am not worried at all?
The KCNA must be too excited to update their website. The latest news is that North Korean holidays were observed in the Congo and Uganda, two thriving and stable leading nations. I wonder if that really happened or they are making it up. I want to email them but I would probably be sent to jail for sending communiques to the enemy.

I have a lot to say about this, actually.

I DO live in South Korea... but I'm also not that worried... especially when you realize that over the past forty years NK has gone from a relatively well-off and prosperous nation to absolute desperation.

About ten years ago, fried leaves had become a North Korean delicacy... of course there was a bit of an improvement after that, mostly due to foreign aid... but since then the US has cut that aid to the country so now it's less than half what they were giving out before, and they refuse to give any more. Added to this, a massive typhoon hit the place earlier this year. It was bad in parts of Seoul... so it was probably much worse up there.

And with a big stupid bully like George W. in charge, it's kind of hard to imagine him caring about actually helping the place... he'd probably be more likely to invade. As we know, he's mostly interested in making people afraid to go out of their country, and out of their homes... and also afraid to be in them, I suppose.

One way to assure your status as a world power is to develop nuclear weapons... it worked for China, and it worked for India and Pakistan. This isn't about destroying the world... I mean, sure NK is a militaristic country, but they also know that the whole world is against them... in fact, I'm pretty sure this is a good thing-- maybe even a step towards reunification... which they know they could achieve only on the most unfair terms if they were to go about it without having any sort of leverage.

Apparently, better relations with the rest of the world is what Kim Jong's father wanted, and it's hard to imagine him wanting anything different. If anything, I'd be far more terrified of Western paranoia than of a desperate country trying to preserve its own outdated way of life.

This day in age, I'm more scared of individuals with nukes, not countries. Also I'm confused as to why this is in the Of Montreal thread, and the only rational reason for this I can fathom is that Of Montreal has nukes.

Now I myself am going to nuke the small island nation of hotpocket.

"how was your day?"
"A giant chunk of whale destroyed my car"
"oh dear, that's exciting, I made potroast"
"What a coincidence, I made I've never loved you"

listening to slayer isn't hurting anyone.
acting out the lyrics is a whole nother story.
I never said I was a monk or anything.
it is much healthier (and safer) to listen to slayer when you're mad than barenaked ladies or hootie and the blowfish.
you feel like they empathize with you, as opposed to antagonizing you.
it's kinda theraputic,
If that doesn't work, sometimes a little gabber or minor threat goes a long way.

that doesnt seem too peaceful.
