but when I first opened my eyes this morning, the first thing that came to mind was,"Everything you need is right here to sleep too looooooooong."

Has that happened to anyone else before?

yeah, but the thing is it's "don't sleep too long" so the song is very much pro-alarm clocks!

I agree with what you are saying, but I wasn't trying to focus on the big picture of the song in my opening thread post. I guess I needed to specify in a clear manner how badly I wanted to keep sleeping at that moment I woke up this morning. Take the phase I mentioned in and of itself, combined with: the melody, the timbre of Bill's voice, and the fact that I wanted to keep sleeping lead me to a slight loathing that early in the morning.

I mean I'm laying there all warm in my blanket, comfortable in my bed and the first thing that comes to mind is, "Everything you need is right here to sleep too looooooooong." Oh how true that was (in a literal sense) and how I wanted to utilize that “Everything” to continue sleeping. Then I realized I had to get up and work. "Sweet Dreams, but please don't sleep to long"......., “Fu ck You Bill”...as I’m turning off my alarm clock. (Of course I don't mean that...OTC is my favorite E6 band and I’m just trying to be funny there.) Ultimately, I thought people might relate to my very specific case of nyc-25/waking up early irony, that’s all.

the other night, while trying to sleep, i was taught a word by an old native american. I was just lying there in bed, then a very visual experience, i was then told what a word and then it ended. I forget the word. But it was very pretty.

Dude turning off the alarm clock and going back to bed even though it's really important is the greatest feeling ever. It's always so warm under the blankets.

And I think that's an amazing line. NYC-25 is one of those songs that made me fall in love with OTC. What's crazy to me is that I got the OTC cds only a year ago. I'd only heard demos and live shows before that. I remember the first listen to Dusk. It was amazing. That album is more or less perfect in my opinion. It's one of those things that is really indescribable for me. I'll still walk around campus listening to Jumping Fences & Define a Transparent Dream back to back just smiling, feeling this euphoria from the songs and sort of being embarassed for not being able to contain what the songs do for me. From that opening drone in The Opera House to NYC-25, with those ending sounds and the voice at the end to the right saying "that's it," I'd call this the perfect album. Green Typewriters III, the ambience of "Dusk at Cubist Castle" to its addictively catchy pop tune back to these sounds that just make me contemplate. There's no point in this album where I want to skip a song or get something over with. I often overlook songs on it then come back to them, specifically Marking Time and I Can Smell The Leaves, and just fall in love all over again. I always find myself somewhat sad after listening to OTC, knowing that they're done. Dusk & Black Foliage both leave me with the same feeling, I have yet to find 2 songs that can close epic albums like NYC-25 and Hilltop Precession. It's hard to find time to listen to these albums how they should be listened to, with a good set of headphones and a nice relaxing chunk of time to both closely listen to the music and to let your mind wander in it. Those are some of the best musical memories for me, and just make me feel great.

That's it.

You can go back to the actual topic.
