nights of cabiria

wussup kids? yo! real talk -- i gotta write this essay on "nights of cabiria" for my film clasa dn i'm thinking of doing one of the following:

a). compare cabiria to candide
b). compare the movie's paralells to cults, etc
c). contrast it with the stranger

comparing it to candide will be easy as hell, but i feel like i always use candide in my essays. i even used it on my SAT essay, so people might start thinking it's the only book i've read.

the cult one would be easy too, but i'm not sure which cult to focus on. scientology is the obvious choice, but i don't wanna sound like one of those virulently anti-scientology dbags. really, i couldn't care less about them. does anyone know a cult that famously swindled its adherents, other than scientology?

option c is just dumb, but i'm trying to write the most wacky, pretentious papers this year.

swindled adherents... like a suicide cult? heaven's gate is the last one i remember happening in america but only a few people died, like in the 40's or 50's. theres another cult i was reading about from uganda called something like the movement for the restoration of the ten commandments of god that killed around 1000 people in 2000. scientology works too.

well no, more like a cult that got all of its members to pony up some dough so they could achieve enlightenment or whatever, only to have the leaders run away with it as soon as it hit their palms. suicide cults are cool, tho.

i have much more material for the first one, so i think i'll just compare it to candide. thanks for offering yr help.
