This is just to satisfy my curiosity.
Bill Doss (I think) said Black Foliage took a certain amount of listens before the whole album had a chance to fully sink in. Can someone help this old forgetful brain out and remind me how many listens it was?

From personal experience, I would say after 50 times you feel that it sinks in... but it takes about 55 more to hear the ridiculous amount of sounds placed behind and above and below and behind and below and to the side of the other sounds that are already below and behind the "normal" instruments. To be honest I don't think I've ever going to completely understand it all. But mushrooms and mj help out a lot.

i, for one, don't see how michael jordan and/or jackson can help one understand it.

m and t look almost the same when rotated 90 deg. counterclockwise
or, if you will, 270 deg. clockwise!

it connected with me almost immediately...
but full assimilation took probably 20 listens.
ahhh if only to be that boy again, listening to Black Foliage for the first time. but isn't it strange that, even as we continue to age, Black Foliage just never gets old??

Completely agree........but with headphones is key I think.
I must have listened to the albums at least 20 times speraticly before I listened to it's entirety with headphones on.........it just took that one time and my mind was blown......

I only listen to my 96kbps mp3 rip. I threw the cd in a lake.

Could you record that 96kbps rip onto a cassette? And then back again? And then send it to me?

and then could you play it over the phone to me?
that's probably the best way to listen to it.

Actually, I think after the quality gets really really bad it starts getting good again.

I have listened to it an uncountable amount of times and I still find something new every time.
