Who is the more creative/original of the two? Must take this poll to settle a bet.

Though I probably listen to Mr. Banhart more than Ms. Newsom, I think Newsom is more original (compare early T. Rex recordings to "Oh Me Oh My" or any Devendra recording) and more inventive with her words. They're both radical though.

They're both very hard for me to listen to at times, but very groovy at other times. I'm not sure why, but I'd place Devendra Banhart slightly higher on the ladder, perhaps because I need to listen to Joanna Newsom more (even though I have a LOT of trouble doing so.)

Devendra gets tiresome after a while.
So does Joanna Newsom.
So, I don't know. Devendra, I guess. Since one of his videos had hands floating everywhere.

I'm going to say Devandra only because I am more familiar with his works than Joanna's, though I do like what I have heard by her.

come on, "poetaster"!
joanna is clearly better
(not to detract from devendra)

Aside from Rejoicing in the Hands, I haven't liked a single Devendra Banhart record (and I have them all). He can't seem to shake his inner Marc Bolan. However, I want to marry Joanna Newsom and have little Keebler Elf-voiced babies.

I'm probably going to have to side with devendra even though i think both aren't that interesting.

Say Ys To Joanna Newsom!

Let's see, half-finished songs about marrying little boys vs. orchestral concept albums? No contest. Devendra's great but he's no genius.

Joanna Newsom is playing at my school. The only thing that could possibly be more embarrassing would be if Devendra Banhart was playing at my school.
