View Full Version : Anyone in Chicago or going to the Pitchfork Music Festival?

Ok, as most of you know, I'm pregnant. As none of you know, I'm planning to attend the Pitchfork Music Festival in Chicago this July because if I don't see the Silver Jews and the Mountain Goats live before I die my head might fall off.

I need somewhere to stay, or someone to come with me, or something. I'm driving 7 hours up there, alone, and I'd hate to spend the 3 or 4 days I'm going to be there alone.

I don't have any friends here that would come (except one horribly annoying one) and I don't think I'll be going with my husband, because I think we're getting divorced because he doesn't want me to be pregnant and I refuse to get an abortion (which is odd, because it was his idea to have another baby in the first place, but that's another story).

So, is anyone in Chicago going to the Pitchfork Music Festival...is anyone going? Maybe we can split on a hotel room, or a hostel room? Or just hang out so I don't get murdered. I've been to Chicago numerous times and have had no problems, but people like to pick on pregnant ladies (why, I don't know...).

!!!

Glad your not getting an abortion.

I'll porbably be staying at a friend's friend's apartment. So I'm really not in charge of who can stay there and whatnot. But if all else fails, maybe?

I imagine there will be a bunch of people willing to help out though.

I don't know about the driving, but I may be going with one other friend and we'd love to split to hotel fare with someone. Warning, I'm only 18 and will be only 19 and she's 18, so if you're uncomfortable with us being so young, it's no big deal at all. It's all still pretty tentative anyway.

I'm only 19 so it wouldn't bug me, love.

I would adore sharing hotel fare. And I know good jokes.

Plans have changed and now, if we go, we'd be passing almost right through Louisville. I'll keep you posted as we work more things out.

Holy shat, I love you! I'll chip in on gas and good times! And if we can fit another person, let me know. He's kind of tall, but he's skinny and smells pretty good.

try Australia for size
there's like 3 okay festivals
but they're mostly filled with local bands that are good, but not the sort of thing you want to see when they play bars every other week

Splendour In The Grass
Meredith
Falls
Queenscliff

and that's about it.

Ok, you win. Decent bands like B7S, Built to Spill, and Spoon have came through my town, so I suppose I have no room to talk......Australia may have crappy festivals, but it has vegimite, which I LOVE!

Ooh. I spelled it wrong! Whoops!

In fifth grade, my teacher went to Austrailia for a month and when she came back she brought vegemite and bread and everyone HATED it but me. I loved it. I ate everyone else's pieces and then some.

I had a friend from Poland who was living in Austrailia who was sending it to me, but he cut me off and I haven't had it for months. Now that I'm pregnant I'm craving it ALL the time...

I've never even heard of that one. I feel like a complete hipster for going to the Pitchfork Festival, but I'm dying to see the Silver Jews and the Mountain Goats!
