And when we break we'll wait for our miracle
God is a place where some holy spectacle lies
And when we break we'll wait for our miracle
God is a place you will wait for the rest of your life
I was at a memorial/funeral today, and the priest made a reference to how we'll meet the deceased again "in god" and I immediately thought of this song.
What's this about God being a place? Where does the idea come from? Anyone religious enough to understand.

Here's a few places it could be:

This is a very very crazy question. i don't think there's a short answer in words.

i believe there is another post somewhere on here.. from a year or so back.. there was quite an in depth discussion about it, and it was a really interesting read. you should look it up.

what i got from the song was that he thinks god as a place maybe some what like "heavin" where our souls are after we leave earth, not like god is personified as some one. you shoud read about John Lilly, he has some insane ideas about this kind of stuff.

I found a very interesting article, revealing some new details about this song not known before.

Best song evah! Okay, not really.
But anyways, about God being a place, it's half personification (Heaven for example) and half God (supposedly) being everywhere. At least that's how I interpret it.

If god is "everywhere", how can god be a "Place you will wait for the rest of your life"?

What makes most sense to me, is that when we die (break) we'll wait to go to heaven and see God (our miracle) but we reincarnate (like Anne Frank) and keep waiting to see God all over again (God is a place you will wait for the rest of your life) your life being the whole thing, not just the 60 or 70 years you live as Joe Schmo, or the 16 as Anne Frank, but all your lives put together.
As far as "God is a place where some holy spectacle lies" is mabey a reference to Jesus. Jesus was tangible, a holy spectacle as well, people came from miles to witness someone who could heal and do all sorts of divine things. But he died, and he (God) lies (is dead) someplace. Thus his body/resting place is the only tangible God and the closest anyone's assumptions about a "big man in the sky" will get.
Mabey I'm rambling, I don't know. It's just my interpretation.

That's the personification of Heaven. But I see what you're saying.
Maybe if God=Heaven and God is Everywhere, then logically Heaven is Everywhere. And that is what we'd wait for, for the rest of our lives.
