So my sister and I finally made it to the New York show. Despite being further away from the stage than we were at the Miami and Orlando shows, standing next to quite possibly the most obnoxious OM fans ever( who felt the constant need to yell out inane comments throughout the show), and being threatened by a Bowery Ballroom employee to "stop filming the band," I had a great time! Since I was further away, I didn't get nearly as nice photos as I did at the other shows, but here are the best ones:

hehe yeah--originally we were just going to see them in Orlando--we bought the tickets before the Miami show was even announced. The NY show was almost completely last minute--we were going up there to see the New Pornographers/Belle and Sebastian show on Thursday and realized OM was playing the next day.
I had so much fun at all 3 shows--I can't wait for the next tour!

from what i can tell from these pictures(and their amazing records of course), of montreal shows must be a total blast! hope they'll tour more of norway than just oslo on their next tour. now that kevin is half norwegian and everything. i guess listening to "a sentence of sorts in kongsvinger" can be interpreted in the way that he doesn't like it too much here though... ;)

I saw a small amount of Liar Liar last night, with Jim Carrey in it, and I kept laughing just thinking about Kevin doing those things. I'm glad Kevin doesn't seem to have an elastic face, though.

The ladder dress ... I'll work on that next. It's tricky because it was too much to fit into one frame. haha.

I use a Canon 20D with the vertical grip/battery pack (I shoot vertically a lot, so it hels), and for most of the concert pictures, I probably used my 1.4 50 mm lens. I also used a 24mm and 2.0 100mm lens. I set the ISO on 3200 (H), and shoot accordingly. The lighting was not very good for this show, but it wasn't the worst I've seen (thankfully).

Hopefully that answered the questions. ha

Awesome thanks- I'm still in a big debate with myself over whether to risk bringing my nice SLR film camera or my crappy digital one. They're both Canon's, even though the digital is a few years old now- but it'd be easier to work with and I could record video. I wish I could somehow make the two into one awesome super-camera haha.

I took a bunch of photos at Coachella, and posted my favorites in the flickr pool.

I guess there was something wrong with the level of Kevin's mic (it seemed like a lot of the bands were having the same problems - half of Cocorosie's mics weren't working and they had to stop their set in the middle) - but it sounded great.

During October is Eternal, I'm pretty sure that the bass was vibrating at nearly the same frequency as my constituent molecules...which means, yes, I was almost vaporized by Of Montreal. Well played, folks, well played.

Apparently the pope was there with a lot of buddhas and David pumping iron in his underwear and people making out everywhere and Beeps got a new double-neck guitar like he's goddam jimmy page and Kevin's got a huge pink sombrero (just for you, QG!) and there are martians blowing confettis with huge machines or whatever... :eek:
And at some point Kevin dies... Being French I would have preferred a guillotine on stage (hanging just isn't quite messy enough) but I'm just being difficult.

Last night in Asheville, those feathers seemed quite real to me. A couple even went up my nose. I highly recommend allergy medicine or a spot further back. It was really cool though.

Oh, I'm not being sarcastic, I really am impressed. I used to have a SONY DSC-W??? and I always took the crappiest live pictures with it. Blurry and whitish and generally just meh... So I'm just wondering what settings you used and shit... Still I got a new Panasonic DMC-LM80 and I'm going to give a test run at the Bodies of Water show tonight, and see how it works and hope to get pictures half as good as yours when oM hits Europe next week. :cool:

I really think of Montreal plays their best shows in nyc. I am really really hoping that when they come back from Europe they play shows that are up to this level for the rest of you. There were some wimpy girls who had to leave the pit during Rejecter cause I guess it was too much for them and that was only like four songs in.

There was someone who had a professional looking camera filming everything.. I don't know what that will be for.

Uhh the setlist was the same as the NPR show yesterday, I believe, except the encore was Smells Like Teen Spirit and Gronlandic Edit. The order might not have been 100% the same but I think they played the same stuff.

Our pizza chant was pretty good.

No point in being in the pit?! I mean I dunno what was going on behind me but the first 1/4 or so of the room was so fun. Definitely way more crazy crowd than last year's Roseland show which I was surprised at.

Hahaha that's not what I meant, I was just surprised the crowd got that riled up at parts. After watching some of those youtubes from this week, the audiences led me to believe that the crowd wouldn't be as into it this time.. maybe because they play so much new stuff.

nyc show = epic.

I can't believe how good everything sounded live, the two drums adds so much kick to the songs its not funny.

there were quite a few youngsters there, I don't know if it was because people haven't really listened to Skeletal Lamping or what, but it seemed like the fairweather fans just stood around mostly until promethian curse came on.

the live horse was bonkers.

I think for a lot of people it was really overwhelming, especially if most of the show was new material plus the constantly changing visuals. I was overwhelmed and i knew all the songs and what the stage setup and everything was.

overall really i guess it just blows my mind the complexity of this show on so many levels.

Stay alive! You'll catch them all... Maybe we've missed the horse (and quite frankly, a horse should never be subjected to that kind of stress...), but the rest they should be doing all tour long, right?! If they don't, well, we'll both die. ;)

I did not like the little shirtless mosh pit kids. I also do not like being slammed in the side of the head while watching OM on stage. It is unpleasant.

I'm not sure how to really explain last night's show. It was incredible. It almost felt like it was a dream. The horse, the theatrics, Smells Like Teen Spirit, the band was so tight, ahhhh! The new songs live were incredible! I want to relive it again and again!

Linmacca, I by "youngster" I meant younger kids, it just seemed like a lot of the younger kids didn't dance as much/were annoyed at the people who were dancing/didn't really enjoy non hissing fauna songs/were kind of freaked out by everything going on.

There were a lot of younger kids dancing, but it's annoying getting dirty looks from some 16 yr old who's in the center of the front row because I wanna shake my ass to Punctuate or completely trip balls to Plastis Wafers.

I can understand getting annoyed at moshing a little bit, but man I wanna dance!
