has anyone else noticed this lately? i've read a few newspaper articles recently where posts from message boards are quoted for various purposes. it just seems strange to me that anyone would care what someone on an internet message board would say. i guess it's just an easy way for a journalist to get a quote. hmmm.

Well Pitchfork has been getting its ideas from us for ages :P

yeah, but that's not really what i'd call "journalism". :P
Picthfork really is dreadful, isn't it? Is there a decent alternative? I refuse to read it.
I've seen journalists pick quotes from message-boards before, it's quite amusing when they don't realise that people are being ironic or whatever.

there was actually a cover story in the village voice about wikipedia which quoted extensively from the message boards there. i guess maybe it was a good way to give an idea of the culture there, but it just doesn't translate well into print. i don't know, it seems weird to me. wouldn't it be weird if someone were writing an article about e6 or one of the bands and quoted people from here? i mean, aside from it being flattering, which i can understand, i just think so much of what we write here can be misconstrued. we're all so damn weird with bizarre senses of humor (i think). i think i used the word 'weird' enough times now, i'll stop...

I think the increase in disreputable journalists, who don't care where their sources come from, is the main reason for this.

tinymixtapes and foxy digitalis are far better alternatives to pitchfork.
