Just wondering. How many of you are doing acid? Or any other hallucinogens. I have'nt dosed in a long time now. Since 2000 maby. And was probably my 50th or 70th time. Im guessing. I always had wierd trips on shrooms. Never did peyote, but want to. Neither hells bells. Or poppies. I heard acid tabs are 20 bucks now.

i just did shrooms for the first time about a month ago, it was really fun but my girlfriend had a really bad trip (which is why we havent done it again yet). i am fearful of trying acid because ive heard it is really easy to accidently do way too much. i kind of only want to do natural things, pot, shrooms, etc

i wanna try shrooms sometime. i don't know about acid though. and i was actually going to pretty much reflect pierre's sentiments about avoiding man-made drugs entirely. we tend to do ourselves more damage then we need to, and i think engineering narcotics is symptomatic of how fucked up we all are. which is fine, we have a right to our imperfectness. i couldn't be less against drug experimenting and "partying". i will never retire my bong.

I was actually surprised about how strict the peyote licenses are. As far as i know you have to be on the reservation when you take them and you have to be participating in a spiritual ceremony. But i doubt most people pay any attention to that.

lsd was made by man
therefore
lsd is made by nature:)
I love L.....as long as you eat no more than 2 hits your first time you'll be fine....I highley reccomend listening to dusk at cubist castle.....masterfull..the great thing about L is you can take it to a place that you just can't get to on mushrooms, there just seems to be this plateau on mushrooms.......haven't had peyote but I've done mescaline and you trip....visuals are very shifting sands like, puked my brains out but once I finished I felt great...i could talk forever

Of Montreal isnt inspired at all by drugs (meaning they dont take them)
oh and i think Jeff Mangum expressed the sentiment that drugs were bad

Why is lysergic bliss called lysergic bliss. The only thing lysergic means is lysergic acid diathylamide = LSD...

yes i get it, lysergic means LSD, thankyou. however on later albums kevin usually wrote about other people/events/stories etc rather than personal things close to his heart found on cherry peel.
i dunno, i just never got the impression that these guys do drugs, maybe in high school though...

actually no, -take the zombies for example. a psychedelic band who was completely drug free. just because a band is really creative doesnt necessarily mean they are on drugs.
it can happen.
HolidaySurprise
02-11-2006, 02:13 PM
yeah, but its also possible for a psychedelic band to actually be on drugs...

man, i was so high for those bass recordings, it was like i could smell the music... ;). seriously though, my experiences with acid have always put me in more of a receiving mode than a creative one. too freaky and self-conscious to really bring anything to fruition. the perspective, however, tends to stay behind for a while. for myself it's nice to clean out the old mental pipes every once in a while. mind you, i don't recommend it or any drugs to anyone who doesn't already do them. they are more of a burden than anything else. the music world is a crazy world, friends.
kevin, as i knew him, wasn't really comfortable with drugs. so unless somethings changed, his freaky perspective is all-natural.

i believe that Kevin is not into drugs. his work and detail speak to someone really focused and accomplished. drugs tend to deter that kind of behaviour. i think Bill Doss might be using tho. :P

the only thing that i cant understand about kevin not doing drugs is all of the references in his music, there are so many, especially like lysergic bliss...there has to be some influence there...theres really no other meaning it could have i dont think

The Beatles were into drugs. They said that they started smoking weed for breakfast during Help and Rubber Soul. I would say that they were really focused and accomplished.

knew it as in knowing kevin didnt do drugs. i would agree with you on the second part though, other people around him do drugs. thats a given for any rock band.

I didn't ever really think that Lysergic Bliss was acid... it seemed more like he was using it as a metaphor for true love or something...
Of Montreal never really struck me as much of a druggy band, either. I mean, usually people who take drugs tend to be less concerned with earthly things and think in more mystical terms (see Olivia Tremor Control).
Having puppy-love crushes on girls who don't like you isn't exactly a Magical Mystery Tour!

I've never heard anybody use acid as a metaphor for true love. But the lyrics are obviously about his wife.

I disagree with that, but maybe thats just me...I have always known people to be way more concerned with earthly things when they do drugs...not that otc doesnt do drugs...well whatever...

I can't imagine a drug-free band. He's had to have at least once experimented. But "high on love" sounds right to me too.
Regardless of the past, I doubt he does any hard drugs now with the baby. Being a band leader and daddy is more than a full-time job.

Frank Zappa was drug-free, unless you count caffeine as a drug.

ive done shrooms about 12-15 times, lost count. and i just dropped acid about a month ago maybe,
a friend and i who were about to travel up 8 hours north to play a show, dropped it at 1 am after we got very drunk and stayed up for 8 hours until our ride to our show came and got us. we then attemped to sleep and ended up playing the show still on the acid. which was interesting to say the least, but one of the best shows ive ever played. im high right now, god bless those cali medical clubs.
some of the lyrics in vegan in furs make me think of mushrooms, or other good psychedelic trips.
"Climbing climbing climbing never falling
If it was up to me I'd freak the clouds
let them fall and grip to the sea
I think the chemicals have done
some evil thing to me"

How about
