This is one of my favourite mountains, Cnicht in Snowdonia. Its small but easy to walk up, so its a good one to start with if you have to get back into the swing of things. If I remember rightly, 'Cnicht' is Welsh for 'helmet' and its named that because of its shape.

I really like The Eagle's Nest near Berchtesgaden in the German Alps, its good because you can get a brass plated lift (elevator) up if you're lazy, the views are really nice and there's a pretty good rocky area to climb around on. It's otherwise known as 'Hitler's Tea House' but I think thats a bit of a weird name for it, even though it is now a tea house :D It just makes me think of a kiddie's tea party. I like that whole area of Bavaria, but I don't know the mountain's names.

Hey, I wanted a serious discussion about mountains :(

Hang on, I think I see a mountain in the background graphics, all is well in the world :P

^ Well, she did have a widow's peak.

I don't know the name of my favorite album. It's in the North Eastern part of Ireland (Ardrah, to be exact), on my family's land over there. If you climb up to the top, you can see all down the shoreline. There are all sorts of caves and such along the shore and the water is a great blue-green color. I haven't been there since I was about 13, but I still remember how beautiful it was.

Wow, I would love to live near something like that! I love caves (now I really want to go caving/ potholing, its been so long!) or just any cool rock formations (I'm easily pleased) and I've always wanted to live near mountains, even small ones. Where I live its just fields, hills and some woodland.

^ I live on just what you described. My town in New Jersey is on a small mountain and has an expansive wildlife reserve. It's great. The mountains don't slope enough to have a peak, though, so I think they're excluded.

Mt. Vesuvius, March 1944. The most recent eruption, at the height of WWII. don't get much peakier.

I'm going to say Stromboli, a bit north of Sicily, which is both a peak and an island I guess. It's also an active volcano which erupts daily and a quite wonderful place.

It's embarrasing that I wanted to create something regarding the story of it all, but was beaten to it by Neighbours.

What was the last really tragic volcano eruption? I always used to be scared of volcanos, even though I live in England so it was a very irrational fear :D On the school playground on the tarmac there used to be these weird lumps (from the heat I guess) and I used to think they were volcanos forming...

i can't find any color photographs. 1944 was the last serious eruption, so that would imply a simple lack of the proper equipment. poor timing. maybe it will happen soon, and along with the smiting of innocent lives someone could get a proper digital image. of the eruption, not the horrible senseless carnage. how could sense apply? we's all goonna diiie.

I have a lot of favorite peaks. The tiny hills that some people think are mountains are embarassing. If it doesn't exceed the treeline, it's just a hill. Phil should call his band Hill Eerie.
