I thought this was funny. Apologies for the shite quality, I don't have a scanner.
Jane also ran a short story by David Berman a few years ago and featured the Silver Jews on a cd sampler.
Still, Jane's not even half as bad as most women's magazines.

I think I might actually be a little disturbed.
This is almost as great as when Teen magazine ran a thing to teach you how to dress indie.
Priceless.

$175 for a pin that would take about ten minutes and thirty cents to make? $1985 for a fucking patchwork purse?
I am extremely inspired to cash in on this lame-craft fad. I am actually going to start on this right now. My collection of ugly fabric and millions of buttons shall finally pay off!

Also featured in this issue: a bit about Adrian Tomine's Optic Nerve, reviews of "local scene blogs" to "supersize your music-geek knowledge" and "find the cutest muscians", reviews of new albums from Belle & Sebastian and The Boy Least Likely To, how to paint polka dots on your Chuck Taylors to customize them, more irrelvevant getting ready playlists featuring the likes of Sigur Rós, Ugly Casanova, the Brian Jonestown Massacre, an exposé of SuicideGirls.com, a fashion spread of the band The Like...
It's pretty amazing.
Even Seventeen magazine has a column reviewing the latest "indie" bands.

Wow, this magazine sounds awesome. Fashion and tips on how to find attractive musicians. Brilliant.

jane is great. i read it back when it was called sassy. many accuse jane of being an uber feminist/gay/lesbo rag because it tends to be left wing to some degree, they don't care who they offend, and they have pretty interesting people write columns. hell, even pam anderson's column is worth a glance. ah well. to each his own.
