In their 10th anniversary issue, Magnet magazine names In the Aeroplane Over the Sea as the #1 album of the decade. Talk about a no-brainer!

Oh, I didn't know that. Cool, maybe I'll pick it up. I of course agree completely..

does the magnet have a listing of places where one can get the magazine? I know you can order them via their site but... *sigh* I guess I just want to find it in a store

Yeah, I looked after I saw this. It said Barnes & Nobles, and Boarders carries them, plus various independent record stores...I looked in Barnes & Nobles on Saturday. They only had last months issue with Pete Yorn on the cover, the new one has Radiohead on the cover. They should probably be getting it soon...

I agreed with every single one of Magnet's choices, but I thought the write-up of "In the Aeroplane over the Sea" fell short in many respects. Although I think it's almost hubris to use a Mexican food analogy for that album, it seems like the writer acknowledges that his prose will do the album no justice with his first sentence. He realizes he's dealing with something sacred, but he doesn't handle it that well. I guess I just expected that since it's been 5 years since the record came out, a certain amount of perspective would have been achieved by the writer they chose to do the write-up. I guess I was expecting more insight that would give me chills and make me say, "oh yeah. I never thought of it that way."
It seems they could have accomplished more by saying less. Something like, "If you haven't heard this album, you have to find a way to hear it. It will change your life." It's probably reactions like this that keep Jeff Mangum from releasing new music. He is just a guy, albeit a guy who made the greatest album of the past 10 years. Anyhoo, way to go Magnet.

I had the same problem as you William. My friend when to Media Play, a music store around here, and they only had last months copy. I think I may be able to find it in Buffalo at one of the record stores.
Thanks for the information thought about B&N. I had no clue that B&N carried it.
