Geez! That was really tough.. I picked the one that I currently have in my rotation and that's Cherry Peel... Its so damn good, but really they are all damn good..

I can give very good reasons why all of them are my favorite album...

I didn't know I was going to be presented with a question this tough so early in the morning! Whew!!!

Well, it's not really an album.

Actually I can't give a reason for that one, because I don't own it yet... ;)

But I would definetly say I have very good reasons for all of the other ones except for maybe the Horse and Elephant Eatery one... However it does have In The Army Kid which happens to be in my list of favorite Of Montreal songs...

Actually, In the Army Kid is a Marshmallow Coast song, off his first record, Times Square.

I love most of their records; I voted for Coquelicot, but I just got up and put on the Bedside Drama, and sometimes Cherry Peel is my favorite.

The big oil one, I think, is more a concert-only record than anything else. I think getting it distributed was a bad idea, since it's so weak as an album. It's the sort of thing us dorks might want to own, but it's not so great, though I do like A Strange Day for a Swede...It goes next to my A Pollinair Rave CD-R on the shelf but I don't listen to it much. Speaking of which, Chrissy Kissed a Corpse is my new favorite Of Montreal song. Here's hoping it goes on the next record!

Good use of the poll feature opopopo!

Well, I knew Andy wrote it but I didn't know it was an actual Marshmallow Coast song!! Hmm.. I'm gonna have to find that somewhere..

I noticed that Aldhils only has one vote, and I would like to say that I love that album. The new stuff is so good and poppy and fun.. Just like the Pollinair Rave CD.. That is some awesome music.. City Bird and Chrissy Kissed a Corpse is so damn good!!!

(I sure am swearing a lot today....) :)

although I kinda agree that the tour cd is a tour only thing and the least good of montreal cd (and it's too short, it could have contained other songs like the v.u. cover or some more prev unr songs) I still am glad they did release it: otherwise us europeans wouldn't have had the chance to get ahold of it.

The Gay Parade is my favourite, because the stories are so nice and the songs are SO great! Just say the name Jacques Lamure and I'm smiling, not to mention Nickee Coco (The chorus in Nickee Coco is the best chorus ever!!!)... It's impossible not to become happy when you're listening to the album.

I like the tour CD a whole lot more than Aldhils. :/

But, anyways, I voted for Gay Parade. Coquelicot is a close second.

I voted for Gay Parade too. In my opinion it's just the best one. But, I am quite shocked to see that Petite Tragedy only has one vote! That album's a very close second for me and its strange it only has one vote! AAAHHHHH!

yeah, petite tragedy was what hooked me on of montreal, then when gay parade came out, i was just plain old astounded! what an ingenious album! in my opinion, that was the first of many to come peaks in of montreal's display of sheer musical genius. the harmonies, the melodies, the stories, the sounds...wow. gay parade gets my vote as well.

i agree that gay parade is probably of montreal at their best, but i voted for the petite tragedy because lately it's really grown on me. i just think the story it tells is so timeless and the way it's delivered is brilliant. the petite tragedy is definately up there as one of the most important records ever, to me.

huh, I like Big Oil better than Horse & Elephant Eatery... but overall I voted for Bedside Drama. It doesn't have the amazing production of later albums but it's got such fantastic songs.
