Hi Apples fans,

I've got Tone Soul Evolution, which I love, and I want to get another Apples album. Which would you recommend that's like TSE?

yeah i think wallpaper is the most similar i guess, but the other stuff is kind of different. for more lo-fi-ness, pick up science fair and funtrick noisemaker, both outstanding. for a lighter brighter pop sound, check out discovery of a world...

you could really start anyway nice man washing--but if you want to start out with a similar sound to what you've heard from TSE, I would suggest The Disovery of a World Inside the Moone. For me, however, those two records are my least favorite Apples, although I still think they're nice enough (I know I'm probably in the minority here). But everything else by the Apples I pretty much love unequivocally, so I don't think you can really go wrong regardless of what you choose.

Have fun!

I love everything by the Apples except the new one, which I suggest you avoid.

Fun Trick Noisemaker
and
Her Reverie Wallpaper

both absolutely amazing! Fun Trick Noisemaker is the album that got me into AIS and is still my favorite! and i agree with ladylamentingonalawnchair... stay away from the newest one (at least until you have everything else).

nice man washing:

for the love of all that is good, do NOT stay away from the new one...it is excellent-- some don't think so, but don't take that as reason to avoid it AT ALL.

have a nice day! :)

I second that emotion. Too many people never really gave VoS a fair shot because it doesnt sound like the old stuff, but it is still an excellent record. For me, it ranks third in my favorite AiS albums.
