anyone ever hear of these guys? i went and saw them live on saturday night and they did a cover of "in the aeroplane over the sea" during sound check. then they followed up by saying they were "no jeff mangum" but that they try. it went over pretty well. seemed to be quite a few NMH fans in the audience.
after that, they actually put on a really great show. one of the better i've been to. i picked up the cd too, and it too is great (though different than the show).
so yeah, if you haven't heard of these guys, check them out.

I just got their self-titled.
It's really damn good. Warm headphones on a cold fall day are going to make this album engraved in my memory when it happens though.

akron/family is great. if you ever have the chance to see them live, do it.
I recorded a few songs when they played recently in Winston Salem.
If you want to hear them you can get them at this address

right after they finished playing their set, they jumped off of the stage and started dancing to sly and the family stone. it was a dance party.
I would also suggest getting the split that they did with angels of light.
