View Full Version : Uh oh, Northsix show sold out? =(

Now that my schedule has finally solidified for the last weeks of August, the Of Montreal show at the Northsix I have managed to free up in my schedule is sold out. Classic/same old story, I know =(. This is the time when Of Montreal fans get together and lend a hand, for I am in need. I'm ideally looking for more than one ticket so I can bring a friend. Well, ideally Mr. Helium would put me on the guest list. I offer cookies to those who PM me or respond to this post with help. If cookies are not enough, I will consider marrying said bringer-of-help to live in my big house with all my other close friends.
By an angry sea, of course.
If you are reading this and cannot help, at least leave an e-Hug for my troubles. Make it a big hug too.

Yeah, if I was around on the 15th that would make things a lot easier. Thanks for sympathy, BP, and sorry about your friends. T It looks like I'll be using the air vents unless someone has a better suggestion. We'll need the floorplans etc. of the building, and I'll need someone the inside to open the vent to the bathroom or wherever air vents lead to. If they lead to the stage, Of Montreal will open with a Mission Impossible cover as I fall through the vent onto the drumset. I like the skydiving idea, except for my concern that this venue has a roof. Any other ideas are welcome, because I don't want to fall on a drumset. Also, If your friends still can't get in, BP, tell them that they are welcome to join in my covert operation.

i think someone here mentioned making a cardboard sign that says something to the likes of- "Traveled 500 miles to see the show! Extra tickets?? ", or in your case you could say you traveled all the way down from a remote corner of canada to watch the show.
worth a try.

I know, I figured I could just get the hook-up that day. If anyone could help a brother out with an extra ticket, I would gladly repay you and hook you up with some goodies.

this is the first O.M. show I'll be missing in 4 years.
too bad, soo sad.
I don't ever recall them selling out a week in advance (in NYC...anyway).
dottie and BP should be verry happy.

Didn't OM tour with Tillie and the Wall? Funny coincedence.
I won't be going to this one. :( I went to the previous Northsix show, which was really great, but I will be on a plane while you guys are listening to the sweet sounds of Of Montreal.

this is a long shot, but i know soundfix, a record shop about three or four blocks from northsix sells tickets to their shows. they're probably sold out as well, but you could try.

Thank you soooo much porc-épic!! :P :)
After reading that, I immediately googled the website for soundfix and called them up. The guy gladly responded that he had tickets, and me and my friend drove to Brooklyn from New Jersey to get tickets. My friend was meeting someone in the city anyway, so I tagged along and justified my long drive to purchase tickets. At soundfix, they said that Northsix had come by after I called and bought back the tickets, and the guy thought they wouldn't be for sale at Northsix, since he was under the impression that the tickets were being taken back to be given to the label or something. Anyway, my friend and I sulked our way over to Northsix just in case, and they had tickets for sale. Musicsnobbery, you and all others currently ticketless should head over there tomorrow and grab them if you can. They intend to sell out of their new box office supply at some point soon. Thanks again, see you guys at the show!

I hate to disrupt the flow here, but no more tickets at NorthSix. Went yesterday and a no go. So still, if someone could hook a brother up? A ticket I mean.

major spoilers
the show was great they played 2 or 3 new songs and 1 cover ("Paw Paw Negro Blowtorch" a brian eno song from: here come the warm jets).
the new songs were all incredible (much better than most songs from their past 2 lps).
jennifer louise was their only song earlier than satanic panic (it was an encore).
there was also a new intro to chrissy kiss the corpse and the played a different instrumental ending to lysergic bliss (which was dope).
I feel they are intentionally avoiding old material.
great show, though.
the management (MGMT) reminded me of Wham.
they were decent but to hung up on the 80's thing.
I think they also performed to a cd or iPod because they were skipping tracks and regerred to themselves as a "karaoke band")
oh yeah, kevin also played a mix cd he made before MGMT because he apparently wasn't allowed to bring his records on tour by his bandmates (he planned to DJ live).
I thought that was a tad boring... but thats just me.
they had a bunch of new shirts. I got the singles and songles LP on vinyl. it was one of the very last of their entire Kindercore Stock, so they told me.
kevin also says the 7" will be available soon.
