I have an idea for an E6 shirt.

Yesterday I came up with an idea for an E6-related image, I guess its best practical use would be on a t-shirt.

It would look like an old-timey map from the 1600s or sometime, with decayed-looking italic lettering. I would probably do it in calligraphy if I couldn't find a suitable font.

It would say Elephant Six over the top, and show a fictional landmass. Not a continent, but a frame with a corner of a contintent or something. (This would be so I could say "Oh the marbles are over to the east, in another part..." and I could be picky about which bands were shown.

Anyway there would be the different countries divided around, and it might say, for example, The Apples, then with a little capitol-city dot, In Stereo.

There would be a fancy-looking compass in the sea and swimming monsters. (What should the ocean be named?)

If anybody has any other cool ideas to add to this idea, speak up.

Does anyone know a source for cool old maps that I could use for reference?

Name the map The Optical Atlas and build it as big as you want, assuming it all fits in.
Make sure there's a Tidal Wave approaching Tin Pan Alley where a Stream is Running Over in Apples land, and put the Inverse Gazebo near the Pyramid Landing in the villiage of Marbles where people fly Kites.
The Olivarchy of Tremor Control could have a scorched area from the Gypsum Oil Field Fire and an Opera House with a Courtyard with people Jumping Fences to get in, not to mention a Hideaway amongst the Black Foliage surrounded by Grass Canons.
A Rocket Pad with Rocket 58 on it, and an airfield of Paper Planes should be placed in Bombay just off of 40 Ferndale Road.
Don't forget to have a country in the shape of Holland as it was in 1945 with Los Angeles in it and a Sister City that would, of course, have to be surrounded by The Great Lakes.
Oh yeah, put A Subatomic Holdout in the Beulah Mountains. and lots of Trees with Crows in them planted in The Essex Green.

Maybe this would work best as a map full of e6 references, instead of bands as countries. But I probably won't do it that way.

There would be a mountain range labeled the semen-stained mountains. There would be neither america nor canada, since it would be a fictional landmass. There should definately be an Avery Island (off NMH), thanks, I didn't think of that! (NMH references will abound, since they're my favorite band.) Black foliage might be hard to convey. Pipes, yes, perhaps slightly mario-style! A sunland would be cool but conflict with the bands=countries motif. There will be a cubist castle in Olivia Tremor Control, and a Gramoplane over the (shiny) sea.

The gerbils would be connected to NMH, but a less-connected band might be an island. Dunno who.


And yes, the capital of NMH will be Hype City.

Sweet ideas, vertigotham. But some of this is too complex for a t-shirt. I don't think I'm good enough to design a cool wall-map full color and everything.

Optical atlas, cool, i'll have to listen to the song. I don't get lots of your references, are they mostly OTC? Green Sea, Invisible Oceans?

Glad to help, if I can...um...let me think...ok...the Gypsum Oil Field, Opera House with a Courtyard and a Hideaway amongst the Black Foliage and Grass Cannons,etc. are from beautifully done OTC songs. The Green Sea, Great Society, Secret Ocean (oops, not Invisible), Arachnid Dungeon, Silver Lake are all references to Elf Power songs. Holland in 1945 and Los Angeles are, of course, NMH. The Sister City is a good song from The Great Lakes. 40 Ferndale Road and (Our Man in) Bombay are from the fab Minders. Trees planted in The Essex Green is from...well, The Essex Green. The Beulah mountains were suggested by someone else; I just figured they needed to include a Subatomic Holdout (Beulah song from...let's see...Handsome Western States, I think), Marblesland must have an Inverse Gazebo and a Pyramid Landing cause those are fun Marbles song titles and Fixburg, Sunshinee was me goofing around with Sunshine Fix. Now, go hunt down these songs and then make your cool as hell t-shirt while listening to 'em!
