My friend Dave and I were just discussing the other day how a song could be interpreted many different ways by many different people. We never really decided whether it was better to know the artist's intention or whether you should make your own meaning. What do you guys think?

I vote for make your own meaning, kartoonz. That way 100 different people, including the songwriter, can enjoy the same song 100 different ways. When art is open to interpretation it's a lot more fun, IMHO.
