this is inspired by a bookmark i read, it didnt say their name though

I just cant shake the feeling
that if i were to touch you i'd explode
from all the oils burning bright
that make eachother gleam and glow
and in the light we finally see
the shapes and lines of our bodies
and know that we exist
and are lovely human beings

and you wrap your arms around my neck and pull me close to you
i feel your heart beating in your chest
and you give me a smile that melts the ice
and for that one brief moment, its all right

And as we walk we make footprints in the sand
and they grow wider when we're happy
but in times of trouble there's only one set in the sand
why have you left me alone?
I don't quite understand
you told me that you'd never leave
so now i walk this path on my own
and my rivers flow into the ocean
and tears don't matter unless their seen
cuz they're inanimate and don't hold feelings
other than the pain and sadness
swirling around inside of them

And when the day's clear again
i see your prints return
and we go skippin
blissfully down the shore
but then the clouds get dark and swell
and all the rain comes down
and wash away your footprints once again

And i ask, why have you forsaken me
in the times i needed you most
i don't quite understand
why you've left me to walk this path on my own
"My dear, my love, my entire life.
I made a promise that i would never go
When you see only one set of prints upon the sand
they are mine, for i was carrying you."
