View Full Version : A Story and Some Requests
I have just recently found Of Montreal and have spent the better part of the past week on LimeWire trying to download everything I possibly could. There are a ton of holes, but I'm slowly beginning to fill them (although there's a ton of OM that I still need that I don't even know about yet).
In my quest for Of Montreal, I've run into a few problems - so I've turned to the E6 community for help. I'm looking for mp3's of the following:
Everything About Her Is Wrong
Dustin Hoffman Does Not Resist Temptation to Eat the Bathtub
Dustin Hoffman Offers Lame Explanation for Missing Bathtub
In The Army Kid
Montreal Makes Me Sad Again
Christmas is Only Good If You're Not An Animal (I thought I had found this on Gmail, but instead of "Animal" it said "Girl" and in parentheses it said "My First Keyboard" which is part of the title of another song...so I'm just going to assume that I don't have it)
I know there's a bunch of stuff I still have to look for, but I thought it best to keep my list short. Please help! I need to hear more OM....

ever heard of a thing called recordstore? a place where you can buy music so the hardworking musicians receive something back for their work? downloading is fine for hard or impossible to get stuff, but normal album stuff (songs you mention from Horse and elephant eatery and Early four track) are easily obtainable.

Ya, that is really annoying. It is one thing to download songs from bands who are filthy rich, but the E6 bands are working really really hard for their money and they don't have the luxury to live in mansions while people download their music. I would reccomend buying Satanic Panic in the Attic, Coquelicot, and the Gay Parade. Once you have listened to those a lot you could buy some more! And how could you listen to so many songs in a week? It sounds like you are a download addict. I give each Of Montreal CD at least 2-3 weeks before I move on.

when you want to download a band's whole discography use soulseek, limewire is not good for doing that.
i did the same thing as this kid and downloaded everything of montreal i could, and now i own everything they have put out, so give him a break.
There are those of us who don't have the luxury of having the money to buy a whole back-log of albums. So excuse me for trying to get some good music the best way I possibly can. The funny thing is that it's probably been more difficult for me to find the albums online than it would be if I actually had the money to buy them. Anyways - thank you pierre, I'll definitely be checking out soulseek.

so now it was even more difficult for you? poor you.
you don't have to buy a whole backlog in one week, do you? you don't even have to buy a whole backlog. but you want it all without paying anything, so it seems. and you don't hesitate to state so in your first post on an "official" of montreal board.
if, like pierrecoghill, you intend to buy some of the stuff you download later on, no problem, but something tells me that's not exactly your plan.
Had I known this was going to be such a problem I would've stated that I didn't have money in my first post. All I'm trying to do is get as much Of Montreal as I can. Excuse me if I'm trying to get it too fast. Just because I've come across a lot in such a short amount of time doesn't mean I'm going to skim through it any faster. If I'd stuck with just what I originally came across (Sunlandic Twins) I would have a very narrow understanding of Of Montreal. You have to admit - the sound has grown and changed since Cherry Peel. I have a much broader understanding of where Of Montreal started compared to where they are now thanks to my quick aquiration of Cherry Peel so soon after having discovered Sunlandic Twins. Does that mean I'm going to discard Sunlandic Twins in favor of Cherry Peel and then throw Cherry Peel off to the side once I've come across another album? No. All it means is that I will have a broader and greater understanding of the music as a whole and can then listen to it all. Just because you listen to an album for a month doesn't mean you appreciate it. And just because you have it all doesn't mean you skim through it. Don't be so quick to judge. Along those same lines, who the hell are you to assume that I won't go out and buy anything of theirs? If I have the opportunity, I will. Currently all I have is the opportunity to listen to as much as I can and appreciate it without having to worry about buying. Apparently what I do have to worry about is narrow minded judgmental pricks. All I asked for were a few bonus tracks I couldn't track down and two Early 4-track Recordings that I couldn't find. Had I realized it would've turned into this, I would've kept my mouth shut and continued searching on my own. Good to know you people care about spreading the joy of the music.
