HWS is by far Beulah's worst effort IMO.

Ah well.

I think Handsome Western States is a very good album, and for some reason it seems to be the one I go back to a lot of the time. I haven't listened to Heartstrings in ages. There are some songs I don't care for too much (Slo-Mo For The Masses being the best example), but there are some songs that shine, despite the no-fi - I think Delta and Disco: The Secretaries Blues are among their best material, along with the better part of the album.

I really dug Handsome Western States, though not enough to pay 50 $ + for an import. The Coast is Never Clear was kind of weak. (I don't like referring to the albums in abbreviated form. It annoys me for some reason).

HWS i liked the most as well. In fact I liked each beulah album less than it's predesscor.

i like when your heartstrings break the most, and hws a lot too... the coast is never clear has it's moments... yoko is bad.
