hey there.

i really don't know much about nmh, but i got to see jeremy barnes here in memphis last october. that was one of the weirdest shows i've seen (well, hadn't seen too many.........). and i really liked his cd, "a hawk and a hacksaw." wish i'd bought his cd-r at the show, though, because i don't see it for sale anywhere else.

but i digress. anyways, just wanted to drop in and say hi. i figured i should be a bit more involved on the e6 message board besides sporadic lurking.

toodles.

You can buy all three of his CD-Rs from his personal webpage.

Just click on "Contact" once you're in the site. I have all three of CD-Rs and they are very good.

What does his stuff sound like? Is it instrumental or does it have vocals?

the majority of it is instrumental (at least the cd i have). a couple of songs have "lyrics." very, very experimental music, some way out there stuff. lots of sound effects. mostly piano- and keyboard-based. really cool.

the live show was weirder, though. jeremy sat there, playing an accordion, with jingle bells on one leg (and on his hat), with one foot playing a hi-hat cymbal and the other foot playing a bass drum. on his hat was also a stick that he used to hit another cymbal (looked like he was having seizures when he jerked his head over to hit it), and on his leg (the one with the jingle bells) was a stick that he used to hit - either it was a snare drum or another cymbal, probably a snare. then he had a microphone, through which he sang.

i loved every minute of it.

I wouldn't have the mental coordination to do that.

I've always suspected Jeremy was the younger brother of Kevin and David Barnes, but I really have no hard facts to base that on. Can anyone set me straight?

That's not correct. But there is actually another Barnes in the E6 web...Tim Barnes of Ladybug Transistor.

Touch my leg...quick !
