Since Sleater-Kinney's "The Woods" came out yesterday, and I just got back picking it up at the record store (along with the new Belle & Sebastian singles collection), I just want to restate that I think it's the album of the year thus far, and personally my second favorite album of the last 5 years. It's really good. Get it. I'd never listened to Sleater-Kinney before hearing The Woods so you don't have to already be a fan or like any of their other stuff to get into it.

really? I found it kind of lacking. Ill give it another shot though, all hands on the bad one is really the only sleater kinney that ive likedmuch, specifically the song ironclad...that song is awesome.
on a side note I just picked up josephine foster's new album, hazel eyes...its fantastic, shirley collins mixed with joanna newsom

Heavy psychedelic rock along the lines of the bands Comets On Fire and Blue Cheer, also a bit of a Jefferson Airplane, Sonic Youth, and Fiery Furnaces sound. From what I've heard nothing like any of their other stuff.

Usually when I hear/read so many good reviews about an album it turns out to be utter shit. I love Sleater-Kinney, though. I haven't had a chance to get this yet.

just hope it's better than the last one.

the gutiars are totally wild.
but its still riff-rock.. more like led zeppelin than sonic youth imo.
along the lines of one beat, its heavier and less "punk".. less harmonies.. more screaming. but the songs are still poppy and the vocals are better than before

I almost saw Sleater Kinney because they opened for pearl jam when i saw them a few years ago. I was late to the concert though. I was pretty sad because I really wanted to see them.

i just picked up the album two days ago. i.m still taking it all in. i fucking love s-k. it.s cool that carrie is singing more. saw them in boston last year and they completely "rocked".
it takes some getting used too, much like most good music. soon enough you.ll be amazed at the pipes corin has.

Julie Ruin is Kathleen Hanna of Le Tigre, and their last album was complete crap! But the Julie Ruin album is cool. SLeater Kinney is alright but if you like Corin Tucker check out Cadallaca, Sarah Dougher is part of that project and Sarah Dougher's solo albums are awesome too.
