View Full Version : solve the riddle for an indietorrents invite

ok there have been numerous threads asking for indietorrents invitations. So I have gained another, but this time Im going to give it to the person who can solve this riddle I made some time ago. No one has gotten it yet....most likely because you have to think like I do. I probably could make it more clear, but that may also make it too easy. If no one gets it in a week or so, ill come up with something else or give it to the person who came the closest. Use the answer you get for the first part in the second and the second for the third. Each answer will lead to the ending, when you name the famous rookie. I am not trying to empower myself here, I just thought some friendly competition might be nice.
good luck
The author of 'hallelujah' will never fade
using the letters in his name dispersed
A duplicated phrase is made
but you must find the ending reversed
Seldom is this word repeated twice
except to signify sounds of paradise
you seek the name right before
the most famous sound of all 4.
Backwards again you must turn
for naming this man is no cookie
the year he died, is just before the
start of this famous rookie

I am very very impressed with your riddle-fathoming. Tragically, I am wretchedly pathetic at solving riddles.
I'm still going to be up all night trying to figure it out regardless of my lack of bittorrent desire.

The author of 'hallelujah' will never fade Leonard Cohen
using the letters in his name dispersed Use "Leonard Cohen" to find anagrams
A duplicated phrase is made Duplicated refers to "clone" or "cloned" in the anagrammed phrase, not sure which phrase it refers to. "a, r, d, o, h, e, n" are the letters left for the possible word that repesents "sounds of paradise" when reversed and repeated twice.
but you must find the ending reversed Last word in the anagrammed phrase backwards

i had been thinking it was noel (leon backwards), but i realized i used "l" twice. maybe the word is deo and the 4 refers to the four words of "gloria, in excelsis deo"? if so, probably looking for someone with the last name of gloria.
probably not right, i still can't figure out the phrase

impressive kylevh, you are close to solving the first stanza. My hint for the day is to play more with the letters remaining. Only certain combinations can make a real word(s). I should have made this more clear in hindsight, but the complete phrase is not given. you will see part of it and you have to figure out one more word.

Here is a list of anagrams of leonard cohen
involving the word clone
which will likely be of no help: Link (http://www.wordsmith.org/anagram/anagram.cgi?anagram=leonard+cohen&include=clone&exclude=&d=&n=&m=&source=adv&a=n&l=n&q=n&language=english&where=)

hint: duplicated should imply past tense
the ones that make words
A HONER
A HERON
HEAR ON
HEAR NO
HARE ON
which is a semi-common phrase missing its ending?
sorry seems like this part was too hard. use google

Hear no evil?
so the ending reversed is perhaps live?
Oh boy, this is fun. You're far too clever, Astro.

Are we looking for the phrase "Live long and prosper" repeatedly uttered by one Captian Spock who dies in the 1982 film Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan?
Therefore, is the answer 'Sugar Ray Leonard'?

Oh golly, not only am I frightened by technology and clueless regarding bit torrents, but I also have nothing interesting to share. I'd much rather the invite go to someone who has been longing for one.
I would be thrilled if you'd reveal the solution to the riddle. I am lost.

um ok i will give the answer to anyone who wants it via u2u or email. but will not post it because i will never be able to use the riddle again anywhere as this thread has been googlized and any part of the riddle in quotations reveals the answer
would also appreciate if everyone could edit out their answers.
hope that doesnt sound too strange...ha
