So, Steph and I are getting our house painted. I went out this morning to meet the painter. He was a older black guy in his 50's or so. He said he noticed my keyboards in my music- room the previous day and asked if I played organ. I said I did a bit. He told me that he was drummer, and that he had played with Al Green from '71-'77 and with James Brown for two years after that! This was in fact substantiated seperately by another painter who we kinda know without me saying anything about it. DANG! He was super nice and talked to me for a while about stuff.
Sorry, but I thought it was exciting and I don't know who else to tell.

Al Green had a couple of different drummers. What's his name? Get his phone number and record a record with him! You already know he's good.

yeah that's a Great story!
not as awesome, but this carpenter came in to work on my room. and we got into this conversation about music. he really liked Pavement and the Apples. i had other plans and errands that afternoon. but i ended up cancelling my plans and helping him out. all the while, both of us talking each other's ears off about music.
i'm a dork.

I think his name is Aaron. He apparently stopped playing with Al Green because he refused to join his church, so then James Brown picked him up. He was playing drums when Al Green was on Soul Train.
As for recording an album, my songs are a bit humble for a soul/funk legend alumni:P Maybe you could give him a ring though, Casper!
The funny thing is, our house is getting paited green, and from now on I will refere to the color as "al green" with "james brown" trim:D
Actually the trim is more cream. I'm sorry for that.
