one of my favourite bands ever. I really dig them. even if Anton Newcombe is a mite egotistical.

right on... newcombe is quite the 'tortured genius'...
I've downloaded a couple of albums off their site. the only other way I would be able to get their music is to order it online. no stores around here carry anything even that underground.

Saw Dig! last night. I thought it was really funny, but pretty sad too...

What's BJM's best record? I like some of their music.

I'd start out with "Thank God for Mental Illness"

go to their site (www.brianjonestownmassacre.com) and then proceed to the mp3 page... you can download entire albums in zip format. "Thank God for Mental Illness" is good, but not the definitive BJM record. if there is such a thing. "Take it From the Man!" is good, and so is "And This is Our Music"...

it's only 64kbps OGG format ... good for previewing, but i'll probably actually buy one of their albums on emusic or a hard copy.
if by newcombe being "off his rocker" you mean "completely self-obsessed, delusional prick," you are correct. music's good, though.

by the way, don't be a sucker and overpay for BJM vinyl on ebay! these fools who are driving the prices into the stratosphere just aren't bothering to do their homework. most of this stuff is still available for normal prices. save yourself some money and don't feed the ebay vultures!

where?... i found "...and this is our music" on www.teepeerecords.com for like $13 or something... double vinyl... very thick... sealed... but i can't find any others except a couple singles...
my favorite bjm record is probably either "give it back!" or "their satanic majesties second request"... "...and this is our music" is pretty good too though... i saw bjm and met anton twice... i still haven't seen dig! yet though... i really want to...
try bomp, stantonpark, planaria... also, be aware that those overpriced 12"s consist mostly of tracks already on the albums. there are a few good things on the 7"s (there are seven of them out there), but again almost everything (if not all) on those can be had on readily available cd's.
for example, the 12" currently going for $41 (!!) on ebay has only ONE unreleased song, and it's only about a minute long. (is an early version of "if i love you" with mildly amusing lyrics about meeting courtney taylor).
guess none of those bidders bothered to check the bomp site and see that you can get the thing for $7...
