BitTorrent is easy to understand. It's also the most unsafe method of downloading things, unless you're downloading from small, trusting communities. There are so many people that get caught using BitTorrent. There are ways to make it more secure, but even that isn't enough.

are you sure about that? I have only heard of one person getting sued for using bittorrent and that was a massive (initial) uploader. It seems like the riaa and movie industry are targeting the sites instead of the actual users. Much easier for them, and less risk for us. Of course if you want to be safe, only download the stuff that no one cares about ie indietorrents

I've been using Indietorrents alot lately.
Very safe, and strict.
Only non-RIAA affiliated independent music is allowed.
and no, I don't have any invites.

Yeah, Indietorrents is fine.
But I hear about people getting e-mails through their ISP from the MPAA and RIAA all of the time. Usually nothing is done as long as they delete whatever was downloaded, but sometimes not.
That's why there's the one add-on for BitTorrent, although the name of it escapes me. It makes a blacklist of all of the IP addresses that are harmful, i.e. RIAA ones. But even that's quite ineffective.
Oh, and Soulseek works just fine for me.

why doesnt anyone ever mention DC++? do you guys even know about it? theres about 3 hubs on it that are devoted to independent music, with plenty of users. Even the band Sigur Ros has a hub on Direct Connect. so yeah, check that shit out, i've been using it for about 2 years. the only problem would be that it's a little complicated at first....but if you're familiar with p2p programs you should get the hang of it in no time.

I've been using BitTorrent for 3 years now, and not only have never gotten a virus from it, I've never heard of that happening to anyone else. . .
