i recently bought the dusk at cubist castle on vinyl and it all sounds great, except side 3, it almost sounds really dirty, i gave the record a good cleaning but it didn't help much. does anyone else have this and does it all sound fine? or any ideas on how to fix it

i'm listening to side 3 right now and it sounds fine to me. just the normal crackle and pop here and there. did you buy it used?

yeh i did buy it used (if only i could find it new!)

why i was wondering to see if maybe it was the pressing or if the guy i bought it from only listened to side 3, because the rest sounds amazing. he said he only listened to it once and by the quality of the other sides i belive him.

i thought it may have been the pressing because 22 minutes is a lot to fit on one side and theres just bad spots, like right after the first verse on green typewriters 1, it just sounds really hissy dirty and faded, and some parts during the ambient part seem to fade in and out to the hissy dirty and faded thing. (its really more noticeable on headphones)

just so you know though this isn't a complaint, i'm more than happy to have this and a couple bad spots don't bother me, it could have been a lot worse, i'm just glad the records aren't split in half. :P

I find used LP's most easily on eBay. The record stores that sell Vinyl where I live only sell old vinyl like Led Zeppelin and stuff...

well I guess ebay is my best bet for now. i know that none of the record stores around here have it. I'll have to check when I go to Toronto.

ooops I wanted to thank you all for the info

heres some good sites to buy OTC vinyl:

www.gemm.com - best place to find anything. gets kindof high because its record stores selling their stuff on there, so most people know actual worth. i bought the OTC/apples 7" for $27 on there.

www.opalmusic.com - awesome place. bought Black Foliage, Jumping Fences, Hideaway, and the Opera House brand new. its in the UK so the currency conversion and shipping get high, but the prices itself for the vinyl are good. in US dollars the black foliage lp comes out to be about $16.

www.goodrecords.com - have some stuff. based in US.

hope that helps. ebay gets expensive.

I found Dusk at Cubist Castle at In Your Ear Records in Cambridge, MA.

I found Black Foliage at Newbury comics in Burlington, MA.

Found the Olivia Tremor Control vs. the Black Swan Network LP in some little record shop (who's logo featured Anubis knealing in front of a turntable) in Kyoto Japan.

Found the California Demise EP off eBay.

But none of that really matters, since it looks like GEMM.com has absolutely everything anyone could ever ask for there.
