Hello Everyone,
I am writing to thank Of Montreal for stopping in Providence, RI a couple of nights ago. After falling in love with this band a couple of years ago, I never had a chance to see them live. They always scooted up to Boston and my wife and I never were able to make it 65 miles North. But all that changed this week.

The club did not pre-sell tickets, so I was suprised to see a line of 40 people when I showed up at 9pm. Even more impressive was that Kevin was working the merch table. I introduced myself and was able to share some small talk with him. Great guy and I had no problem layout out my cash for a couple of singles, record bags and stickers.

I then asked if he wouldn't mind signing a few items. He said "no problem" and then "wow, this is rare".

After kindly taking care of this request, I said "I have more". After running to my car, I returned with this:

Again, he said "wow" and I responded I have collected one of everything they have released. Including some Track & Field test pressings, the High Fidelity poster and a colored Ghetty Kitty single.

The show was just fanatastic and we hung around a little longer. At that point, I purchased another copy of The Cherry Peel LP and asked the members to sign the cover and inner sleeve with any thoughts. Here's what I got:

Overall, a great night out in a (newly) smoke free club.
Thanks again Kevin, Dottie, James, the late b.p. helium and company.

Here are the only photos that came out half-way decent.

Also, I convinced my brother and a few friends to come along and, although none of them were overly familiar with the material, all of them had a great time and were very impressed with the show.

He (my brother) has a blog, and knows more about music than anyone I know. His review of the show.

http://www.masterofchooch.blogspot.com/

"last night i went to see st. thomas and of montreal at as220 in providence. st. thomas were charming in a "latka from taxi meets they might be giants" or a "down syndrome proclaimers". of montreal may have been the most bizarre live show i have ever seen, up there with the lead singer of fishbone doing spoken word back in san fran a few years ago. covered in lights and glitter, they slithered onstage together as a giant snake in slow motion. half of the show consisted of backing tracks with drum machines. at times, all five members were playing either guitar or bass and you couldnt hear any of it. interesting and fun. the merch table was hall of fame quality and i dropped forty bucks without even trying.

He is also involved with:

Hey, I was the tall guy right next to you when you were making your initial purchase, so I heard that whole thing with Kevin saying "wow, this is rare". The look on your face a few moments earlier when you realized that it was Kevin at the merch table was priceless. I'm sure you enjoyed the show as much as I did. I'm still bouncing from the show, and for some reason I can't get My British Tour Diary out of my head. Like I will open a door and I will hear that quick succession of snare drum hits at the beginning of the song in my head, and I'll start dancing. The frequency at which this happens is rather embarrassing. Thanks Of Montreal =).
