Question about Kevin Attending School

Hey, I am new to the message board, but my name is Joe. I'm a junior in high school in Atlanta and was at the Atlanta show this past thursday.

Anyway, we are beginning the college application process at my school and I know I want to go to UGA, mainly to be in Athens. I love Athens and want to write and preform. Going to college is sort of my outlet for that since I really do not have a choice not to go. I am very serious about making music for a living, though that isn't my goal. I do not want it to be something that takes a low priority while I study something else. I don't want that to happen.

I considering majoring in music, to learn more about composition. I would probably have to study jazz guitar (my main instrument, though I don't play much jazz).

At the concert Thursday, I noticed how Kevin's guitar playing seems heavily jazz influenced. Going back to the recordings, I pick up on more and more jazz chords and progressions.

I was wondering if he attended any college or if he studied jazz at some point (and if so at which point) in his life. Does anyone know if he attended UGA either?

Now that the band's on tour, I am sure this question will be more difficult to answer, but if anyone knows, I'd appreciate it.

i know kevin taught himself piano and seeing as how he mastered that i wouldn't be surprised if he taught himself everything else. i can't really picture him 'studying' jazz progressions but who knows.

there was a point in his musical growth when he wanted to incorporate more jazz into his songs. he said that he liked the feel or flow or energy of them, i forget where i read it or how exactly it went but its in an article somewhere out there. but he did teach himself jazz guitar.
