People should post the setlists for all the stops on the tour if they remember them. That would be nice. And we can keep them all in this thread or something.

I went to the Athens show. There were a few songs I didn't know at the show, and the setlist didn't really help me on trying to figure them out. I also didn't know the encour. Heres what I got:
Requiem for O.M.M. 2
I Was Never Young
Wraith Pinned to the Mist and Other Games
Disconnect the Dots
So Begins Our Alabee
Rapture Rapes the Muses
Head (Not sure)
Fire (Not sure)
Oslo in the Summertime
Forecast Fascist Future
Will You Come And Fetch Me
My British Tour Diary
Spike The Senses
Micro (Not sure)
The Party's Crashing Us
The Repudiated Immortals
If someone could tell me what songs where played at the encour, that'd be great!

ugh.
my memories are hazy. i was jumping around a lot.
"head" = was your face a head in the pillowcase
"fire" = i don't want to set the world on fire
"micro" = i don't know this song, but it included the repitition of the word "microuniversity".
the encore included "you are an airplane" and a cover of bowie's "be my wife." there was also another song but i didn't recognize it.

Of Montreal, best band ever. but of course ;)
>>"fire" = i don't want to set the world on fire
was this the song jamey sang for a minute while most of the band swapped instruments? this is an old cover, yes?
microuniversity = on the upcoming tour 7" it seems. rad song. first time played maybe (?). wish it was available at the merch booth (and what was the deal with no sunlandic twins on vinyl? maybe they'll have it at the atlanta show).
encore:
be my wife
doing nothing
you are an airplane
closing refrain w/ girl from nyc #64 melody as played by everyone until they left the stage one at a time - nice touch but it would've been super rocking if they'd actually played it all the way through..
also of note:
slow-motion theatrics before requiem for omm2
jamey and gerbils guy on psychedelic duel-trumpet action before and during i was never young!
kevin's funny clothes and fist pumping
dottie's Bono sunglasses while rocking the guitar
the silhouetted goth/shoegaze lighting at various times
oslo in the summertime's pumping bass groove
jamey's bass moves on wraith, repudiated immortals..
the very enthusiastic crowd
the show was MINDBLOWING. only the best from OM :D

Guys-
Now granted the title of this thread implies clearly what will be found once the board member opens the thread, but I think it's kinda crap to post setlists for those whose city has yet to be played...seeing as the tour setlist is likely consistent from night to night. So yeah, you blew any surprises that could have been great (Head In a Pillow Case)
Harnk
harnk, you argue both sides of the point very well.
the problem with posting setlists is that indeed it may ruin some surprises. perhaps this thread oughta have "spoilers" written in large letters in the topic, if that sorta thing could somehow be edited in at this point. nobody wants to spoil anybody's fun. and it gives people the choice: to peek or not to peek.
the problem with not posting setlists is that it restricts folks who want to talk about what happened at their shows. and that seems like a natural thing to happen on a message board. for example, eli now knows what "head" and "fire" are.
i would respond to vacantmoon's question, but at the moment i'm feeling like more "cat out of the bag" information would anger you and possibly others on this board until we establish some kinda protocol.
to be fair, vacantmoon left out a few details about the show that, imho, will be nice surprises for others to enjoy elsewhere, should they re-occur on tour. i will restrain myself from blabbing for the benefit of others.

How's your album coming along?

i agree.. i wasn't going to say anything about the bowie cover until the cat was out of the bag. since i'm assuming it will be played every show.
actually, harnk, someone already posted most of the set from 2 texas shows last week and it included '..pillowcase'. i actually got excited about the prospect of hearing it live again so i think it can work both ways in knowing ahead of time about the set. hopefully people use their discretion

they played only new songs (outside of head in a pillow case and your are an airplane) and I cring at the thought (not that the new stuff is bad but god damnit coquelicot is the best album...ever) but it was truly truly amazing.
And Scott Spilane is king...(the gerbils guy)

Ok I'll put spoilers in the subject. And for people who went to the shows so far, how do you think the new stuff is sounding?
By the way, hey Eli, you have the same name as me.

They played the entire new album minus two songs (not including instrumental tracks) and those happen to be the two songs on the new album that I think are just not catchy. The rest of it is amazing (Ive had the album for two months ---- but Im gonna buy the lp!) and live the songs are that much better. It was just plain great.

it'll be out next month. guar-ron-teed. thanks for arsking.

yep, it's an "old timey" kinda song.

I Was a Landscape in Your Dream and Death of a Shade of a Hue are two of my favorite tracks on the new CD. Glad to see Oslo and Repudiated Immortals played, though. I hope they rotate the new stuff they play.

to me it sort of made sense to leave those 2 out just b/c live it'd probably be hard to find something for everybody to do/play, seeing as how they're largely vocals + beats/fx.
although death of a shade of a hue seems like the perfect theatrical number to run a pre-recorded tape and make it into a mini-play with everyone joining in. wonder if that idea's been tossed around.. might be fun!

man since (for the most part) they only played stuff from Satanic Panic and Sunlandic Twins the show had a whole different feel than the two previous shows i'd been to. It was like a dance party. Over an hour of dancing my little heart out. I love Coquelicot more than any cd in the world I think but I loved it.
Heart attack...on the dance floor heart attack.

okay, don't jump all over me here, i'm not trying to be a jerk or anything. i don't like the new album in the least (what i've heard of it anyway) and i'm not a huge fan of spita especially two of the songs on the setlist. so. will i enjoy myself at the show? i hate dancing but i really love of montreal and have never gotten to see them live so i'll go regardless but i want to know how strong of an endorsement i could give to my pals who probably feel the same way i do about dance music and have never heard of montreal. although they'll probably go to the animal collective show that weekend and not be up for another one. what a great weekend that will be if'n i am able to enjoy the of montreal show.

well now if you dont like dancin' then your no friend of mine.
allright allright im just kiddin but an of montreal is not a show like any other band ie: you go, listen to the music, leave... with of montreal its the show the whole production of it all. its just plain great.
and again I very much prefer gay parade and coquelecot I think those are the best albums of the last 30 years (at least) and I thought Id be disapointed by them playing only new stuff, but I was very pleasently surprised.

I went to the athens show and was blown away. You are an airplane was the first of montreal track i ever listened to. I like all their albums and adore every track they put out.
Seeing them for the 4th time friday as well with my sister and my best friend, who've been to all the shows with me. Its such an awesome time.

they only played the new (spita/suntwins) stuff at the Brooklyn show. w/ the bowie medly (breaking glass and be my wife). I liked it, but a big part of the fun for me, being a fan for 3 or 4 years now, is seeing what they'll pull out of the bag of almost 200 songs. I was a tad disappointed.
It was a good show and it was Of Montreal. Thats awesome.
Also there were hardly any skits. they didn't really talk to the audience.
I'm wondering if they were tired.
when they got off-stage they played
"The Couple In Bed Together Under A Warm Blanket Wrapped Up In Each Other's Arms Asleep"
and kevin left first (as the song played), then BP, then matt, then james, then dottie.

At the end of the Brooklyn show they played 'Man's Life flashing before his eyes..' which seemed to be an esp. heartbreaking way to end the show. Also did the Supergrass cover.
I wonder if the programmed drumming restricted the banter somewhat.
Didn't know Nina was in the crowd until I noticed Kevin glancing in a certain direction whenever he sang a particularly romantic line. Quite touching.
If they haven't come to your town yet, do go and dance and have a great time!
