-are tickets available online or is it pay at the door?
-the website has four bands listed playing, but the tour dates says they are just playing this show with one band. what time do you think of montreal will be playing? (the entire show starts at 9 apparently).

also, has anyone been to this venue? i live around here but have never even heard about it. ponce is a big street and a lot of it is not the good part of town. is this in that part or what? parking?

thanks.

I don't know about the tickets. I do know that OM is the headliner and will probably go on around
12:30 or so. The drunken unicorn is very small. If memory serves it is on the stretch of Ponce by City Hall East in the vicinity of the bar called "The Local." I might be wrong about that. Seemed like there was some parking at the club but not much.

I saw it was all ages on atlantashows. I'm def going to that show, maybe I'll see you there. Usually the drunken unicorn is all ages or 18+.

drunken unicorn is all ages. it's kind of hidden in a small strip of shops in the parking lot across the street from Green's liqour store on Ponce. you can either park in this lot (which is very small and fills up quickly) or across the street in the Green's lot or in the huge Kroger lot behind that.

drunken unicorn shows usually start around 9:30-10:00 and as far as i know there are actually only 3 bands playing (despite 4 originally listed) so OM might go on around 11:30 i'd guess.

the club is pretty tiny but i doubt it will be too packed, seeing as how atlanta hasn't shown enough love for OM over the years to warrant them to play here much. so no need to worry about advance tix. the stage is actually really tiny for a full band like OM and it's low to the ground so it'll be an in-your face blissful experience :P

oh, no worries about this being a 'bad part of Ponce'. Ponce might have it's share of troubles like any huge street in a midtown/downtown metropolitan area but it's far from seedy.

ah thank you so much all, especially vacantmoon. i appreciate all the help.

one last question (i hope. i know i have many but there isn't much info out there about these shows)...

how much do you think tickets will be at the door? $10, i'm guessing?

the show is $7.
doors open at 9pm.
there are 4 bands.
of Montreal is last (of course)...
set time 12:30 am.
the place holds according to our contract, 150 to 300 people.
but according to our man RJ, the actual room where
the band plays holds like 100 people. there's an adjoining
bar and i think that's where the club fibs about the actual
size. i'm sorry we're not playing a better venue. i'm
kinda miffed. it is all ages though.
if you get there early you should be able to get in.

we had 450 people at our 40 watt show. (woohoo!!).
we haven't played atlanta in a long time so it's kind of
a mystery to how big the show will be.

imo the thing about atlanta clubs right now is that they really blow. i hate to sound like an old fart but 10 years ago there were a lot more cool places to play (with less of the political scenester pandering to boot) and now there's really only like 2 rock 'clubs' that get decent shows.

and both of them have their drawbacks but what sticks out the most to me is a lack of community and open-mindedness in general that used to be a big strength in the 'scene'. part of this is due to the fact that there aren't more alternative venues/options for bands that don't run in the 'scenester' crowd. it's more reason to try to make something exciting happen on yr own DIY style but it's a shame another viable option hasn't sprung up yet in this (quite large) town.

i actually just talked to one of the guys in a fairly-well known athens band about helping them set up a show down here and they'd been treated rather badly thus far by the booking folks at said rock clubs. i hope for OM's sake a good turnout is in the cards b/c i'd like to think they'll pay ATL another visit before 2 1/2 more years go by! not that i blame them for the delay..
