with everyone downloading the new album, i wonder how Kevin feels about it. i could see him being upset because the band's not getting any $ back from that, but on the other hand i could see him saying it was cool that the band is getting so much exposure. personally i found them by downloading their music and now i'm in love and have been searching for/buying as much of their music as i can find so im not too opposed to the whole downloading idea. i was just wondering WWKD?

It's not like the band makes its money off of the record. I'm not condoning people downloading albums, but, Kevin and crew make there money from touring, and I think they care more about people coming to the shows.
But I may be talking out of my ass here. If people like the album, I think more times than not they'll purchase it.
it was randomly put on my ipod
i listened a lot
i'll still buy it at the show

I always make it a point to buy albums I really like if I have MP3s of it.
I had most of the OM albums on mp3 before I owned them, then I made a point to buy them all.
Anyome that considers themselves a fan, big enough to at least participate on this site, should at least offer up that much.
I am definitely buying the vinyl at the show.
and maybe some hemp sandals.

I have it on my ipod, but, only because, I am Australian, and nothing gets here for ages so I wanted to have it early for a change!!!!
If it makes me happy, Kevin should be happy!
(Of course I will buy it when it's released here....if it ever is...:()

yeah, i agree.
i live in a shit town with shit record stores so i have to order everything online. i'd like to listen to a few songs of a band i never heard before i go and spend $40 on a bad 6 song ep. (i live in canada so i usually have to get everything exchanged to american funds)
the only new songs from the album i downloaded were the three up on purevolume.
but, if the band is starving because some people downloaded some songs, i will gladly buy them food at the Toronto show. i hear sneaky dee's (the venue) has really good, cheap food.
edit:: since when is there new songs on their purevolume?!!

It's where I got nearly all my E6 stuff, including the absoloutely impossible to get anywhere in Australian stores Cherry Peel.

Record stores haven't the money to stock loads of albums that few, albeit the enlightened few, will buy. That's why the internet works so well. People will back order or wait a few weeks to get an album via online, but how often will one place a special order at a record store? I'm lucky enough to live in NY, so I have some great record shops to go to (even if I need to travel to Brooklyn to get them). My point? The internet is a muso's wet dream.

there actually is an indie record store 20 min away from me. itsa drive to get there but its so worth it because they stock of montreal, and if they dont have it, you can order it and its there within a week usually. i'm feeling blessed right now :P

Harnk opened his big mouth to say:

Actually, my local store does this. You can special order ANY CD, and you will more than likely get it the week after, and for no extra charge. Also, they have a system in which you get 1 stamp for each dollar you spend, and when you fill up a stampbook (125 stamps), you get $5 off.
The thing is, though, that since the people that work there are so fantastic (and the one guy has an uncanny resemblance to Kevin Barnes... sort of) and since I'm such a regular customer, they give me for more stamps than I should get. I just spend $30 (including the extremely high Erie County sales tax), on two CDs (Dusk at Cubist Castle and Slow Riot for New Zero Kanada, if you must), and got 130 stamps. So cool.

I too discovered of Montreal by downloading their music. I did however go out and buy basically all their albums but two once I nearly immediately fell in love with them. With Sundlandic Twins I've staved off downloading it, I want to buy it the day it comes out, and run home and listen to it a million times.
Anyone who doesn't buy this album is also missing out on the amazing art work as well.

I too will be buying the vinyl.
The art work is one of the best parts about the record (other than the lovely muzack of course).
