Are the website versions of "About the Ocean" and "Good I Feel Bad" different from the cd mixes?
The reason I ask is because I was very much looking forward to this album. And I bought it about a month and a half ago but the vocals are so buried in the mix that I can't listen to the cd even though I LOVE all the songs. I seriously wondered if there was something wrong with my stereo or cd player when I first heard it.
Today one of my friends (not knowing I had the cd) forwarded me the weblink to the .mp3's. And the songs on the website sound good, not just good but actually fantastic. And it seems like those are the versions I remember that made me so hyped about the cd.
On the cd, Hilarie's vocals in "Good I Feel Bad" are so much fainter than the instruments you can barely make out the words.
On "About the Ocean" on the website it sounds like H and P are singing together, or if anything H is a little louder. On the Cd it sounds like Per is singing and if you listen closer you can hear Hilarie doing "backing vocals."
In both cases, it sounds like the same version of the songs, just radically different mixes. Play the website and cd versions back to back and the difference is very, very apparent. One sounds great. The other sounds well, kinda poo.
If it was intentional, and everyone likes the cd mix much better, I apologize. But the difference is so stark to me that I'm wondering if maybe there was actually some kind of production/final cd-mixdown error.
