Huh?

I came across this NMH survey (http://www.misterpoll.com/results.mpl?id=2165398168), which asks people to name their favorite NMH songs, among other things. Ranked last of the songs on Aeroplane? "The Fool." I'm shocked, "The Fool" is pretty much what grabbed my attention about NMH in the first place. It's hardly ever talked about though. Probably because it wasn't written by Jeff. Not only that, the untitled tenth track is second to last, although I think it's unquestionably the climax of the whole album -- not the best song, but just the peak of the whole emotional arc. How does everyone else feel about these songs?

Also noticed for the first time recently that the horn instrumental on Avery Island is called "April 1st": April Fool's Day. Strange.

The Fool is great, but nothing beats the untitled track IMO.

more alarming is the absence of the olivia tremor control in "other e6 bands"

i'd say the otherworldly noisy instrumentals on avery island are also highly underrated

I noticed that right away.

The whole Two-Headed Boy-The Fool-Holland, 1945 is probably the best stretch on the album. "The Fool" especially is a perfect in-between instrumental.

I prefer Ghost/(untitled)/THB2. I think that stretch is really responsible for crowning the whole album as a masterpiece.

The fool and Untitled just add that extra feel and sound to the album, imho.

A friend of mine is not very fond of the Fool....he think it doesn't fit the album. Then again, he might be searching for something to use against me since i totally dislike "a man needs a maid" and especially "there's a world" on Neil Young's Harvest.

Excellent point.

The Fool is excellent, as is the untitled track, but I'd definitely place untitled lower on my list.

And the whole you can't really put a quantitative order on such great music. It's like trying to make a "Best albums ever" list. I just can't do it.
