I was just recently told about this band and I'm trying to buy what I've heard is their best album, The Magnolia Electric Co. I just wanted to know if anyone else had heard of them and had anything nice or not nice to say. While I'm here I wanted to know what you think of these other bands: Zum Zum and Madeline.

Some folks say Songs: Ohia is a second rate Palace Brothers. I don't really see that, nor do I really think that's a bad thing. Anyway, my favourite album by Songs: Ohia is Didn't it Rain. It's worth checking out.

i believe songs: ohio's last lp was titled "magnolia electric company", and now they go by that name. the album, "magnolia elec. co." is really good in my opinion. i haven't heard their earlier stuff, but i really like that one. my dear brother introduced me to them, and i was very pleasantly surprised, being the cynical listener that i am. it's very emotional, and although it may be a little closer to conventional southern-style rock than i usually prefer, it really made a good impression on me. so that's my 2cents.

I like Didn't it rain and Lioness. I just saw Mag. Elect. Co. (though I kept forgetting the name and calling it the Jason Molina Electric Company) and they rocked out. I was very surprised, as at the last Songs:Ohia show I saw everyone sat on the floor and cried.

I think the world would be a better place if there were more people who sounded like Will Oldham.
