E6 live sampling

Does anyone know what equipment E6 bands like Circulatory System use for live sampling/weird noises?

Interstingly enough, when I saw Of Montreal recently I noticed that they had their songs [in part] pre-recorded onto a cd with all the samples. So what they did was put the cd into a small portable cd player that was hooked into big speakers. Then, all they had to do was push play and it came out of the system just like their guitars that are miced into the system.

yeah I saw of montreal do that, but then at one point kevin had to stop the cd player, and go back, cause it just kept playing, and there was too much space in between 2 songs.
