According to their web page, the Sixth Great Lake have a release coming out this fall. Does anyone know how the band stacks up against the E.G.? Are they the same band?

They have most of the same members, and have a country thing going on, as opposed to the more psychedlic EG sound. Up the Country is a great record.

I second LadyL... The Sixth Great Lake's album is fantastic, when it first came out I listened to it constantly and it just made me feel nice and lazy.

does anyone know if they are part of the E6 collective or "extended family"? i don't see them listed at the elephant6.com website (which i know isn't official, but it usually is comprehensive)...

any and all help would be appreciated.

the reason i ask is because i'm making a mix cd and i want my band selections to be accurate. thanks

It doesn't seem to me particularly necessary to classify them as adjunct members or extended family or whatever--there's really no in-group or out-group at this point.

i agree, except in this case where i'm making a themed mix and i want to make sure all the bands fit the theme. regardless, i decided to include them, because i really like their music.

I highly recommend "Sunday Bridge" to those with turntables. I hope it comes out on CD--more deserve to hear this beautiful album.

there is an elephant six logo on the back of the everything is green cd. does that answer your question?

i agree that there is basically no difference in collective and extended family. i mean, of montreal is pretty much just as e6 as dressy bessy, right?

i would consider sixth great lake as a member.
