These reissues of Dusk at Cubist Castle and Black Foliage - does anyone have any news?
Would be amazing if they came with an extra disc of outtakes, alternate versions, demos etc.

from a late March Pitchfork article...
-------------------------------------------------
***In other Circulatory news, the band [Circulatory System] just bought back the rights to the Olivia Tremor Control catalog. The Flydaddy Records versions had been out of print since 1999, and the label had since filed for bankruptcy, having owed the band a substantial amount of money. An agreement was worked out, and Cloud now plans to issue expanded and remastered versions of both Dusk at Cubist Castle and Black Foliage: Animation Music Vol. 1 this fall. Said Fernandes, "The re-issues will include bonus discs which will uncover some lost 'Green Typewriters' sections, as well as songs like 'The Sky Is a Harpsichord Canvas' and 'Trilogy', which were cut from [those records] because of time constraints." He said that they may also include the Black Swan Network/The Olivia Tremor Control split EP as a bonus disc with one of the albums.***

Thanks - now I know.
I can't help feeling that all I use this forum for is to express my impatience when I'm waiting for new music from the E6 camp. I need to lighten up . . .

Good, I was wondering if they were going to be re-released. I hadn't heard of the Olivia Tremor Control untill last year so the only album I've ever had is the ''Singles and Beyond'' CD, and a few downloads.

I just noticed on the E6 site that the reissues are coming out this spring but the bonus disc reissues are still listed under future releases. Are there two different versions coming out or is this a mistake? Or is this just a stupid question?

ok, so here's the scoop. both albums will be back in print in feb & march. no changes, just like they were originally. they just want to get it back out there for people to be able to find and not pay a million dollars on eBay for it.
but the "deluxe" editions are still being worked on. it's looking like it might be late 2004 at the earliest before those are ready. they're trying to locate some lost tapes for the bonus discs and it's taking longer than originally planned.
so for those of you who are holding off buying it i don't know what to tell you... they are trying to get the "deluxe" package together but it's looking like the end of 2004 now. but your patience will be rewarded with quality! :)

thanks for the info kelly. now i know what to tell the folks who ask me about otc at the record store. besides telling them to buy the circulatory system, that is!:D

I guess I'll buy both. It won't be the first time I bought an album twice because of finding a version with extra songs (it will be the 2nd time...).

The Soft Boys "Underwater Moonlight", and Pavement's "Slanted & Enchanted" Matador Records 'Deluxe' re-issues were only 14.99, Hopefully they will be similar to those 2.

don't worry. the re-issues with the extra disc should only be $15 or so.

even if they were 25, i'd still get one. it's olivia tremor control, and what would life be like without them?

I ordered the Dusk At Cubist Castle re-issue from CloudRecordings.com as soon as I saw it. I would like to know if it is a pre-order or what as well because it had no information about it on the site...

we have copies of Dusk to sell now through the cloud website. it's not a pre-order! we're shipping them in advance of the "official" release date which isn't until february.

Is it the reissue, or did you round up some more copies of the Flydaddy version?
If reissue, what's on the bonus disc? Thanks.

good question!
Hi guys,
We have the reissue of The Olivia Tremor Control Music from the Unrealized Film Script, Dusk at Cubist Castle CDs for sale now on the Cloud Recordings site in the ORDER section under "Distributed Catalog". It is a single disc with the double album as it was originally released. Since it is taking longer than we anticipated to find all the tracks for the bonus discs, we are just going to reissue both albums as single discs (I should have copies of Black Foliage: Animation Music, Vol. 1 in the next week or so), then we will compile all the 'rarities' onto one seperate disc that we'll sell for an E.P. price sometime this summer. Thanks, john

so about this bonus disc...
anyone know yet what will/may be on it?
my ideas include the World Trade Remix of Hideaway from the Kindercore compilation and possibly the Olivia song from the Tour EP, but what do i know?

1. Being a musician or an artist by myself.
2. Being an employee in the office connected with major/indie labels in US.
3. Taking a plastic surgery and being their groupie.
4. being their patroness. (means I entice them by money.)
I don't know which one I should choose.
Sorry I got pissed off again as I watched Sonic Youth play on TV.

i just recently bought "dusk at cubist castle" after hearing only a few songs and i'm quite impressed. However, i more recently discovered that 'the first few thousand copies come with a bonus CD of ambient "dream sequences" — titled Explanation II — which, when played simultaneously with the first disc, realizes true quadraphonic sound' - AMG
I was kindof bummed to hear this considering cubist castle was 30 bucks and it didnt include explanation II.
This might have already been said, but does "Explanation II" come with the re-issue of cubist castle?
William
02-24-2004, 05:29 PM
Nope, mine didn't. Too bad, it would have been a good idea to include it. Buying them now even seperately is pretty expensive.

buying them seperatley? do you mean that you can buy explanation II? if so where and how expensive is it?
